The dihedral angle between the central benzene ring and the benzoyl phenyl ring is 53.3?(2)°. In the crystal structure, ions are linked to form a two-dimensional network parallel to the (10) plane by N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

Disordered structure of propane-1,2-diaminium dichloride.

Project description:In the title compound, C(3)H(12)N(2) (2+)·2Cl(-), the cations are disordered over two well resolved positions in a 0.525?(13):0.475?(13) ratio. The disorder involves two C atoms which assume positions that make an almost mirror-sym-metrical system. Similar disorder is observed both at room temperature and at 120?(1)?K. The conformation of the NCCN chain in both components is close to trans (the torsion angles ca ±170°), while that of CCCN chain is close to gauche (±50°). In the crystal, a network of relatively strong N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds connects the cations and anions into one-cation-deep layers parallel to (001); there are R(2) (4)(8) and R(2) (4)(11) ring motifs within the plane. The planes are only loosely connected by van der Waals contacts and electrostatic inter-actions between cations and anions.

Project description:The cation of the title salt, C4H14N2 (2+)·2Cl(-), is located on a crystallographic inversion center and is bis-ected by a mirror plane, with one quarter of the C4H14N2 (2+)·2Cl(-) formula unit being crystallographically unique. he chloride ions also sit on a mirror plane. The conformation of the cation is a regular straight-chain conformation with all non-H atoms in anti positions. In the crystal, hydrogen bonding between N-H groups and chloride anions yields a zigzag ladder-type structure along [010].

The terminal NH(3) (+) groups insert into the crown rings through strong N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, resulting in the formation of a 1:2 supra-molecular [(C(3)H(12)N(2))·(C(12)H(24)O(6))(2)](2+) complex. The anions are linked to the supra-molecular complexes via weak C-H?F hydrogen bonds. The F atoms of the anion are disordered over two orientations with site occupancies of 0.5.

Redetermination of 1,3-diammonio-1,2,3-tride-oxy-cis-inositol dichloride.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C(6)H(16)N(2)O(3) (2+)·2Cl(-), has been reported previously by Palm [Acta Cryst. (1967 ?), 22, 209-216] from Weisenberg camera data, with R1 = 10.5%, isotropic refinement of non-H atoms and H atoms not located. We remeasured a data set of the title compound and present a more precise structure determination. The asymmetric unit contains two unique 1,3-diammonio-1,2,3-tride-oxy-cis-inositol cations and four Cl(-) counter-ions. The cyclo-hexane rings of both inositol cations adopt chair conformations with two axial hy-droxy groups. An extended network of hydrogen bonds is formed. The four chloride counter ions are hydrogen bonded to the hydroxy and ammonium groups of the cations by N-H?Cl and O-H?Cl interactions. The cations are aligned into wavy layers by cation?cation interactions of the form N-H?O(ax), N-H?O(eq) and O(ax)-H?O(eq). Intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the axial hydroxy groups is, however, not observed.
