Poly[bis-(?(3)-dodecyl sulfato)-calcium].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound [Ca(C(12)H(25)O(4)S)(2)](n), the unique Ca(II) ion lies on an inversion center and is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment by six O atoms from dodecyl sulfate anions. The crystal structure is based on hydro-carbon (dodecyl sulfate) layers which sandwich the Ca(II) ions. Within the layers, the hydro-carbon zigzag chains are parallel to one another and inter-act via van der Waals forces.

Project description:The Ce(IV) atom in the title salt, {(H(3)NCH(2)CH(2)CH(2)NH(3))(2)[Ce(SO(4))(4)(H(2)O)]·2H(2)O}(n), exists in a monocapped square-anti-prismatic coordination geometry. The water-coordinated metal atom is bonded to four sulfate ions; one of them is monodentate and two function in a chelating mode. The fourth is also chelating but it uses one of the other two O atoms to bind to an adjacent metal atom, generating a polyanionic chain. The cations are linked to the polyanionic chain as well as to the uncoordinated water mol-ecules, resulting in an O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen-bonded three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(SO(4))(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), the Cu, S and two O atoms lie on a mirror plane. The Cu atom is in a distorted octa-hedral environment and the ethyl-enediamine ligand is in a gauche conformation. The sulfate dianion is bridging, forming a one-dimensional chain. A two-dimensional net parallel to (001) is generated by N-H?O hydrogen bonding between the chains.

Project description:Single crystals of the title compound, {Na(4)[Mo(VI)O(2)(SO(4))(3)]}(n), were grown from a melt of MoO(3) and Na(2)SO(4) in Na(2)S(2)O(7). In contrast to the structure of the isoformular K compound, K(4)[Mo(VI)O(2)(SO(4))(3)], with its monomeric anion, this sodium analogue contains a polymeric anion of the type {[Mo(VI)O(2)(SO(4))(2)-?-(SO(4))](4-)}(n). The Mo(VI) cations, surrounded by two tightly bonded O atoms and four O atoms of one bridging and two terminal sulfato ligands, form zigzag chains parallel to [100]. All four Na(+) cations are situated between the anionic chains and have distorted octa-hedral coordination spheres.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(14)H(16)N)(2)[HgCl(2)(SO(4))], consists of an infinite chain propagating along the c direction, containing Hg(II) ions tetra-coordinated by two bridging O atoms of bis-monodentate sulfate anions and two chloride ligands. In the the crystal, N-H?O hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anionic chains consolidates the packing. The crystal structure was determined from an inversion twin with approximately equal twin domains.

Project description:The environment of the Co(II) ion in the title compound, [Co(SO(4))(C(6)H(7)N)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), exhibits an octa-hedral configuration with the two 3-methyl-pyridine ligands lying in cis positions with respect to each other and trans to the two coordinated water mol-ecules. The axial positions are occupied by O atoms of the sulfate ions. Co and S atoms occupy special positions (twofold axis, Wyckoff position 4c). Neighboring Co(II) ions are covalently connected with each other through the sulfate ions, thus creating infinite polymeric chains that run along the c axis. The water mol-ecules are connected with neighboring sulfate ions through strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds. Intra-molecular hydrogen bonds parallel to the propagation direction of the chains stabilize the polymeric chains, and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between chains connect neighboring chains with each other, thus leading to polymeric double chains.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co2(SO4)2(C10H8N2)2(C2H6O2)2(H2O)2] n , there are two crystallographically independent Co(II) ions, each of which lies on a twofold rotation axis and has a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. One Co(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from two bridging 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) ligands, two O atoms from two sulfate ions and two O atoms from aqua ligands. The second Co(II) ion is similar but with ethane-1,2-diol ligands in place of water mol-ecules. The sulfate anions act as bridging ligands to link two adjacent Co(II) ions together, leading to the formation of linear ?Co1Co2Co1Co2?chains along the a axis. Adjacent chains are further bridged by 4,4'-bipy ligands, which are also located on the twofold rotation axis, resulting in a two-dimensional layered polymer extending parallel to (001). In the crystal, the layers are linked by extensive O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the O atoms of the water mol-ecules and ethane-1,2-diol mol-ecules, resulting in a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

The water mol-ecules have a cis disposition. The bridging sulfate ions (site symmetry 2) link the Cd(II) ions into a polymeric chain extending along [001]. The chains are linked by N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The terminal -CH(3) group of the ligand is disordered over two orientations in a 0.61?(5):0.39?(5) ratio.

The coordination environment of Na(+) comprises six O atoms in a more distorted octa-hedral arrangement, with Na-O distances between 2.368?(1) and 2.612?(1)?Å. Project description:A new organically templated open-framework cerium sulfate, {(C(4)H(16)N(3))[Ce(SO(4))(3)(H(2)O)]}(n), was hydro-thermally synthesized. The Ce(III) cation is nine-coordinated by nine O atoms, including one water mol-ecule. Two of the SO(4) groups afford one monodentate and bidentate linkages as the bridge to connect adjacent Ce(III) cations, while the third SO(4) group attaches the Ce(III) cation in a bidentate mode. The crystal structure consists of layers composed of eight-membered-ring networks formed by four CeO(9) polyhedra and four SO(4) tetra-hedra. The triply protonated diethyl-enetriamine cations are located between adjacent layers and connect the layers via hydrogen bonds.
