Bis(1,3-dibenzyl-imidazolium) μ-oxido-bis-[trichloridoferrate(III)].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound (C(17)H(17)N(2))(2)[Fe(2)Cl(6)O], obtained from the solid-state reaction of FeCl(2) and N,N'-dibenzyl-imidazolium chloride, the complex anion has approximate D(3d) symmetry with crystallographically imposed inversion symmetry coincident with the bridging μ-O atom. The stereochemistry about each FeCl(3)O centre is distorted tetra-hedral [Fe-Cl = 2.2176 (5)-2.2427 (5) Å and Fe-O = 1.7545 (2) Å]. The Cl atoms are involved in weak anion-cation C-H⋯Cl inter-actions, giving a network structure.

Each Sn atom has a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, with the equatorial plane formed by an oxido O atom and two C atoms of two benzyl anions. The configuration of the complex is stabilized by a pair of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules are linked into zigzag chains along [110] by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, {(C7H6NS)2[Sb2Cl6O]} n , contains two benzo-thia-zolidium cations and one tri-μ-chlorido-tri-chlorido-μ-oxido-di-anti-monate(III) anion. The structure of the inorganic cation may be described as as being built up from two polyhedra, i.e. a square-pyramidal SbCl4O and a distorted octa-hedral SbOCl5 unit, sharing a common face (comprising the O atom and two Cl atoms). The two benzo-thia-zole cations are quasi-planar and subtend a dihedral angle of 19.93 (5)°. The crystal packing can be described by alternating (100) layers and [001] chains of the organic cations and inorganic anions connected through an extensive three-dimensional network of N-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. This is consolidated by slipped π-π stacking, with centroid-to-centroid distances between the benzo-thia-zole rings of 3.7111 (18)-3.8452 (16) Å. These inter-actions link the mol-ecules within the layers and also link the layers together and reinforce the cohesion of the ionic structure.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, (C(23)H(33)N(2))[FeCl(4)], consists of 1,3-bis-(1-adamant-yl)imidazolium (BAIM) cations and tetra-hedral tetra-chloridoferrate(III) (TCF) anions. The BAIM cation possesses m symmetry, with the central imidazole ring and four C atoms of each terminal adamantyl group located on a mirror plane. The Fe and two Cl atoms of the TCF anion are also located on the mirror plane. The cyclo-hexane rings of the adamantyl groups adopt normal chair conformations.

Project description:The title complex, [Fe(2)O(SO(4))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(4)]·8H(2)O, contains two unique Fe(III) cations, one oxide anion, four 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, two coordinated sulfate anions and eight lattice water mol-ecules. Each Fe(III) ion has an approximate octa-hedral geometry, coordinated by four N atoms from two phen mol-ecules, two O atoms from oxide and sulfate anions, respectively. The parallel phen mol-ecules form two-dimensional supermolecules through π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.684 (3), 3.711 (3), 3.790 (3), 3.847 (3), 3.746 (3), 3.732 (3) and 3.729 (3) Å]. This architecture is further stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water mol-ecules and sulfate O atoms.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C(3)H(7)NO)(6)][Fe(2)Cl(6)O], was obtained unintentionally as a product of an attempted synthesis of heterometallic complexes with Schiff base ligands using manganese powder and FeCl(3)·6H(2)O as starting materials. In the [Fe(2)OCl(6)](2-) anion, the O atom and the Fe atom occupy positions with site symmetry [Formula: see text] and 3, respectively, resulting in a linear Fe-O-Fe angle and a staggered conformation. The octa-hedrally surrounded cation (site symmetry [Formula: see text]) and the [Fe(2)Cl(6)O](2-) anion are alternately stacked along [001].

Project description:In the title complex, [Sn(2)(C(7)H(7))(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2)O(3))(2)(C(2)H(5)OH)(2)], the Sn(IV) atom is seven-coordinated in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry by three O atoms and one N atom from the pyruvate benzoyl hydrazone ligand, one ethanol O atom and two axial C atoms from trans-benzyl groups, thus forming a dimeric mol-ecule ([Formula: see text] symmetry) via weak Sn-O inter-actions. The C atoms of one phenyl ring and the ethanol mol-ecule are disordered over two sets of sites with site-occupancy factors of 0.57?(5):0.43?(5) and 0.79?(2):0.21?(2), respectively. Intermolecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal structure.

Each iron(III) ion, surrounded by two coordinating N and O atoms from the salphen ligand and one bridging O atom, shows a five-coordinate square-pyramidal geometry. One of the two solvent water mol-ecules is disordered over three positions with occupancies of 0.44 (1), 0.37 (1) and 0.19 (1).

Project description:The title compound, [Ir2H2O(C3H9P)6](BF4)2·2H2O, was isolated from the reaction between [Ir(COD)(PMe3)3]BF4 and H2 in water (COD is cyclo-octa-1,5-diene). The asymmetric unit consists of one Ir(III) atom bonded to three PMe3 groups, one hydride ligand and half an oxide ligand, in addition to a BF4 (-) counter-ion and one water molecule of hydration. The single oxide ligand bridging two Ir(III) atoms is disordered across an inversion center with each O atom having a 50% site occupancy. Each Ir(III) atom has three PMe3 groups occupying facial positions, with the half-occupancy O atoms, a hydride ligand and an Ir-Ir bond completing the coordination sphere. The Ir-Ir distance is 2.8614 (12) Å, comparable to other iridium(III) metal-metal bonds. Two water mol-ecules hydrogen bond to two BF4 (-) anions in the unit cell.
