Dibenzoatobis[3-(pyrrol-1-ylmeth-yl)pyridine]-zinc(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Zn(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)(C(10)H(10)N(2))(2)], the Zn(II) ion, located on a twofold axis, is coordinated by two N atoms from two 3-(pyrrol-1-ylmeth-yl)pyridine ligands and two O atoms from two benzoate ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The pyridine and the pyrrole rings are nearly perpendicular to each other, making a dihedral angle of 84.83?(7)°.

Project description:The title Schiff base zinc(II) complex, [Zn(C(13)H(10)ClN(2)O)I(CH(3)OH)], was synthesized by the reaction of 5-chloro-salicyl-aldehyde, 2-amino-methyl-pyridine and zinc iodide in methanol. The Zn(II) atom is five-coordinated by one phenolate O atom, one imine and one pyridine N atom of the Schiff base ligand, one methanol O atom and one I atom, forming a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, with the I atom at the apical site. The dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridine rings is 22.9?(2)°. In the crystal, centrosymmetrically related mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming dimers.

Project description:The central part of the title centrosymmetric dinuclear complex, [Zn(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(4)(C(9)H(12)N(2))(2)], has a paddle-wheel conformation with four benzoate ligands bridging two symmetry-related Zn(II) ions. The distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment around the Zn(II) ion is completed by an N atom from a 4-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)pyridine ligand. The Zn?Zn separation of 2.9826?(12)?Å does not represent a formal direct metal-metal bond. The Zn(II) ion is displaced by 0.381?(1)?Å from the mean plane of the four basal O atoms. Two of the C atoms of the pyrrolidine ring are disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.53?(2) and 0.47?(2).

Project description:The piperidine ring of the title compound, C(16)H(15)N(5), adopts a chair conformation. The pyridine ring is essentially planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.035 (3) Å. The pyrrole and pyridine rings are almost coplanar, forming a dihedral angle of 3.48 (14)°. In the crystal, no classical hydrogen bonds were found.
