Methyl 4-isonicotinamido-benzoate monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(14)H(12)N(2)O(3)·H(2)O, synthesized by the reaction of methyl 4-amino-benzoate with isonicotinoyl chloride hydro-chloride, is relatively planar, with the pyridine ring being inclined by 7.46?(7)° to the benzene ring. In the crystal, the methyl 4-isonicotinamido-benzoate mol-ecules are inter-linked by water mol-ecules via N-H?O, O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of a double-chain ribbon-like structure.

Project description:In the structure of the 1:1 proton-transfer compound of 4-methyl-pyridine (?-picoline) with 4,5-dichloro-phthalic acid, C(6)H(8)N(+)·C(8)H(3)Cl(2)O(4) (-)·H(2)O, determined at 200?K, the 4,5-dichloro-phthalate anions are bridged by the water mol-ecule through O-H?O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bonds, giving zigzag chains which extend along the c-axis direction. The 4-methyl-pyridinium cations are linked to the chains through single N-H?O(water) hydrogen bonds and occupy the voids within the chains in the one-dimensional structure. The anions have the common 'planar' conformation with a short intra-molecular O-H?O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bond.

Project description:IN THE TITLE HYDRATED SALT [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 1-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-ylmeth-yl)piperazin-1-ium 4-nitro-benzoate monohydrate], C12H17N2O2 (+)·C7H4NO4 (-)·H2O, the piperazinium ring of the cation adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation. The piperonyl and piperazine rings are rotated with respect to each other with an N-C-C-C torsion angle of 45.6?(2)°. In the anion, the nitro group is almost coplanar with the adjacent benzene ring, forming a dihedral angle of only 3.9?(4)°. In the crystal, the cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked through N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains along the a axis. In addition, weaker inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions are also observed within the chains. The anions form centrosymmetric couples through ?-stacking inter-actions, with an inter-centroid distance of 3.681?(4)?Å between the benzene rings.

Project description:The title compound, C(7)H(7)NO(3)·H(2)O, which crystallized as a hydrate, was obtained from an extraction of the plant species Saussurea atkinsonii of the asteraceae family collected from the hilly area (Ayubia) of Pakistan during the flowering season.
