Project description:The title compound, C(9)H(9)N(5), is slightly twisted from planarity, with a maximum deviation of 0.0285 (13) Å from the pyridine plane for the C atom bearing the amino group. The cyano groups are on different sides of the pyridine plane, with C- and N-atom deviations of 0.072 (3)/0.124 (4) and -0.228 (4)/-0.409 (5) Å from the pyridine plane. In the crystal, N-H⋯N and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules into zigzag chains running along the c axis.

Project description:The reaction of a cobalt(II) salt with 4-(dimethyl-amino)pyridinium hydro-bromide perbromide yielded the title compound, (C(7)H(11)N(2))[CoBr(3)(C(7)H(9.1)Br(0.9)N(2))]. In the anion, the Co(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by three Br atoms and the pyridine N atom of a bromine-substituted 4-(dimethyl-amino)pyridine mol-ecule, whose formation probably results from an incomplete substitution (90%) catalysed by the Co(II) ion. One of the three bromine atoms bonded to the metal is disordered over two sites in a 0.9:0.1 ratio. An N-H?Br hydrogen bond connects the cation and anion.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C7H11N2)2[Mn(NCS)4(C7H10N2)2], the manganese(II) cations are coordinated by four N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and two N-bonded 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridine ligands into discrete complex dianions. For charge balance, two 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine counter cations are present, which do not coordinate to the metal cation. The asymmetric unit consists of one manganese(II) cation, four thio-cyanate anions and two 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridine ligands, as well as two protonated 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium cations. The discrete complex anions are connected to the non-coordinating pyridinium cations by weak N-H?S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Space group revsion of the triclinic polymorph of salicyl-aldehyde azine.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(14)H(12)N(2)O(2) {systematic name: 2,2'-[hydrazinediylidenebis(methanylyl-idene)]diphen-ol}, has already been determined in the triclinic space group P[Formula: see text] with Z = 4 [El-Medani, Aboaly, Abdalla & Ramadan (2004 ▶). Spectrosc. Lett.37, 619-632]. However, the correct space group should be P2(1)/c with Z = 4. This structure is a new polymorph of the already known monoclinic polymorph of salicyladehyde azine, which crystallizes in space group P2(1)/n with Z = 2. The benzene rings form a dihedral angle of 46.12 (9)°. Two intramolucular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds occur.
