Project description:The complete mol-ecule of the title compound, C(24)H(20)Cl(2)N(4), is generated by a crystallographic inversion centre. A kink in the mol-ecule is evident [C-N-C-C torsion angle = -147.0?(3)°] owing to the twist in the central ethyl-ene bridge. Further, there is a small twist between the imine [N=C = 1.267?(3)?Å] and quinoline residues [N-C-C-C = -12.4?(4)°]. In the crystal, a combination of ?-? [pyridine-benzene centroid-centroid distance = 3.5670?(14)?Å] and C-H?N contacts leads to supra-molecular chains propagating in [010].

The thio-phene and imine residues are co-planar [the N-C-C-S torsion angle is -2.5?(4)°] and the conformation about the imine bond [1.268?(4)?Å] is E. Supra-molecular arrays are formed in the bc plane via C-Cl?? inter-actions and these stack along the a axis.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title Schiff base compound, C(18)H(12)Cl(2)F(6)N(2), adopts an E configuration with respect to the azomethine C=N bond. Intra-molecular C-H?F (× 2) and C-H?Cl (× 2) hydrogen bonds generate S(5) ring motifs. The imino group is coplanar with the aromatic ring. Within the mol-ecule, the planar units are parallel, but extend in opposite directions from the methyl-ene bridge, as indicated by the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings of 3.74?(6)°. The inter-esting features of the crystal structure are weak inter-molecular Cl?N and F?F inter-actions, with distances of 2.9192?(11) and 3.2714?(10)?Å, respectively, which are shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of the relevent atoms. These inter-actions link neighbouring mol-ecules into dimers which are stacked down the b axis.

Project description:The title mononuclear zinc(II) complex, [Zn(C(10)H(15)N(3))(2)](ClO(4))(2), was obtained by the reaction of 2-acetyl-pyridine, N-methyl-ethane-1,2-diamine and zinc perchlorate in methanol. The asymmetric unit of the complex contains two independent [Zn(C(10)H(15)N(3))(2)](2+) cations and four perchlorate anions. The Zn(II) atom in each complex cation is six-coordinated by two pyridine N, two imine N and two amine N atoms from two N-methyl-N'-[1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl-idene]ethane-1,2-diamine Schiff base ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The pyridine rings in each of the complex cations are approximately perpendicular to each other, making dihedral angles of 88.4?(3) and 87.9?(3)°. The perchlorate anions are linked to the complex cations through N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:Two independent half-mol-ecules, each being completed by inversion symmetry, comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(16)N(2)S(2). The major difference between the mol-ecules is found in the central C-C bond [the C-N-C-C torsion angles are 114.66?(18) and 128.94?(18)° in the two mol-ecules]. The thio-phene and imine groups are almost co-planar in each case [S-C-C-N torsion angles = -6.9?(2) and -3.6?(2)°]. In the crystal, the mol-ecules aggregate into supra-molecular chains via C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:In the title complex, [ZnCl(2)(C(16)H(18)Cl(2)N(2))], the asymmetric unit contains one mol-ecule and two half-mol-ecules, which have similar geometric parameters; in the latter two molecules each Zn atom lies on a twofold rotation axis. The environment about each Zn(II) atom is distorted tetra-hedral with coordination of two terminal Cl atoms and two N atoms of the N,N'-bis-(4-chloro-benz-yl)ethane-1,2-diamine ligand. The thio-phene ring is disordered over two sites, with occupancies of 0.719?(3) and 0.281?(3). Weak C-H?? inter-actions feature in the crystal packing.
