ABSTRACT: In the title salt, [ZnCl(C(6)H(7)N(3))(2)]Cl·2H(2)O, the pyridine-2-carboximidamide ligands chelate to the Zn(II) atom, which is also coordinated by a Cl atom. The Zn(II) atom shows a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination, with the pyridyl N atoms occupying the axial positions. The cation, anion and water mol-ecules are linked by N-H?Cl, N-H?O, O-H?Cl and O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C(6)H(3)FNO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, the Zn(II) atom is octa-hedrally coordinated in a ZnO(4)N(2) environment by two 3-fluoro-pyridine-4-carboxyl-ate (3-fpy4-cbx) ligands and four water mol-ecules. The [Zn(3-fpy4-cbx)(2)(H(2)O)(4)] mol-ecules form a three-dimensional network through strong O-H?O and weak O-H?F hydrogen bonds between 3-fpy4-cbx and water mol-ecules. The crystal used for data collection was a twin, with the twin law corresponding to a 180° rotation about the real-space [001] axis. The major twin fraction refined to 0.795?(1).

(6) -p-cymene ligand, two N atoms of 3-amino-2-(phenyl-azo)pyridine and one Cl ion form a piano-stool coordination environment around the metal ion. In the crystal structure, N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds play an important role in the formation of the supramolecular zigzag chain along the a-axis direction. Disorder is observed for the isopropyl group with site-occupancy factors refined to 0.78?(5) and 0.22?(5).

The Bi(III) coordination polyhedron is a distorted octa-hedron and two such octa-hedra share a triangular face to form the complex anion. There are three short terminal Bi-Cl bonds [2.5471?(6)-2.5781(5?Å] and three longer bridging bonds [2.8599?(5)-2.9984?(6)?Å] in each octa-hedron. Anions, cations and water mol-ecules are linked by hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional network. There are also ?-? stacking inter-actions between quinoline ring systems, with an inter-planar distance of 3.27?(1)?Å.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title complex, [Zn(2)Cl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], each of the two five-coordinated Zn(II) atoms displays a strongly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry defined by two N atoms from the chelate ligand and by one terminal and two bridging chloride anions. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. There is inter-molecular π-π stacking between adjacent phenanthroline ligands, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.151 (3) Å.

Project description:The title complex, [Zn(C(7)H(5)O(2))Cl(C(15)H(26)N(2))], used for the magnetic dilution of the analogous Cu(II) complex, was synthesized through a direct synthesis route. The coordination geometry around Zn(II) is best described as distorted tetra-hedral, the largest deviation arising from the (-)-sparteine ligand, as is invariably found in complexes containing this rather rigid mol-ecule. The benzoate anion behaves as a monodentate ligand, with a non-coordinating Zn⋯O separation of 2.969 (5) Å. Mol-ecules are packed in the crystal without significant inter-molecular inter-actions. The shortest Zn⋯Zn separation [6.8186 (7) Å] is observed between mol-ecules related through the 2(1) screw axis. This is an important feature for the magnetic behaviour of the Cu(II) analogue, which is intended for modeling isolated metal centers in the active site of type 1 blue copper proteins.
