ABSTRACT: The title complex, [CuBr(C(6)H(4)NO(3))(H(2)O)](n), exhibits a layered structure which is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O and O-H?Br(-) hydrogen bonds, van der Waals forces and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.747(4)?Å] between the parallel pyridine rings from two neighboring layers.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C(2)H(3)O(3))Cl(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is five-coordinate in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. Two O atoms from a chelating glycolate anion, an O atom from a coordinated water mol-ecule and a chloride anion comprise the basal plane. A chloride ion from a neighbouring unit occupies the apical position and these Cu-Cl-Cu bridges link the aqua-glycolatocopper(II) units into one-dimensional chains along the [001] direction. These chains are connected by O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming an infinite three-dimensional polymeric network.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(5)H(5)N)(2)(H(2)O)](n), is a one-dimensional coordination polymer based on pyridine and fumarate ligands. Each Cu(II) cation is coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms belonging to two fumarate anions, two N atoms from two pyridine mol-ecules and one water mol-ecule, in a square-based pyramidal geometry. Each fumarate anion bridges two Cu(II) cations through the two carboxyl-ate groups in a bis-monodentate fashion to form a one-dimensional polymeric chain along the c axis. Neighbouring chains are linked together to form a two-dimensional network parallel to the ac plane via hydrogen bonding inter-actions between uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms and coordinated water mol-ecules of adjecent chains.

Project description:In the title compound, [KTb(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(4)(H(2)O)]·2.5H(2)O, each Tb(3+) centre is coordinated by four N and five O atoms from five distinct picolinate ligands in a geometry resembling a highly distorted tricapped trigonal prism. One of the ligands establishes a skew bridge between neighbouring Tb(3+) centres, leading to the formation of one-dimensional anionic polymeric chains, {[(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(4)Tb](-)}(n), running along the direction [010]. Each K(+) cation is seven-coordinated by six O atoms from one anionic polymeric chain and one water mol-ecule [K⋯O 2.676 (3)-3.208 (4) Å]. The uncoordinated water mol-ecules are involved in O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), there are two symmetry-independent one-dimensional coordination polymers, which are approximately related by noncrystallographic inversion symmetry. Each zigzag chain is constructed from one Co(II) ion, one O-monodentate 5-nitro-isophthalate (ndc) dianion, one N,N'-bidentate 2,2'-bipyridyl ligand and one water mol-ecule. A symmetry-generated O,O'-bidentate ndc dianion completes the cobalt coordination environment, which could be described as very distorted cis-CoN(2)O(4) octa-hedral. The bridging ndc ligands result in parallel chains running along the a direction, and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds arising from the water mol-ecules complete the structure.

The four-coordinate Cu(II) ion (site symmetry ) adopts a trans-CuN(2)O(2) geometry and is bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups from two isonicotinate ligands. The Eu(III) ion adopts a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry, being coordinated by four O atoms from bridging carboxyl-ate groups of four isonicotinate ligands, two O atoms from chelating carboxyl-ate groups of one isonicotinate ligand and two O atoms from coordinated water mol-ecules; adjacent Eu(III) ions in the chain are related by inversion. The water mol-ecules interact with the ligands via O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds [O⋯O = 2.782 (3)-2.881 (3) Å], which link the chains into a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The title compound, {[Co(C(2)H(5)COO)(2)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized by the reaction of cobalt(II) carbonate hydrate with aqueous propionic acid. The structure consists of polymeric infinite linear chains with composition [Co(C(2)H(5)COO)(4/2)(H(2)O)(2/2)](∞) running along [010]. The chains are formed by Co(2+) ions linked with bridging propionate groups and water mol-ecules, with a Co⋯Co distance along the chains of 3.2587 (9) Å. The Co(2+) ion is six-coordinated in a strongly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The chains are connected to each other by a network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving solvent water mol-ecules.
