ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [CrCl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]Cl, the Cr(III) ion is situated on a twofold rotation axis and displays a slightly distorted octa-hedral CrCl(2)N(4) coordination geometry. The Cr environment is composed of a cis arrangement of two 1,10-phenanthroline and two chloride ligands. The chloride counter-anion exhibits half-occupation and is equally disordered over two positions.

Project description:In the title complex, [CoCl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·C(3)H(7)NO, which has twofold rotation symmetry, the Co(II) cation is coordinated by two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) mol-ecules and two chloride ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, a cavity is created by six complex mol-ecules connected by C-H?? inter-actions and non-classical C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The cavities are occupied by the disordered dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule. The C and N atoms of the C-N bond in the solvent mol-ecule also lie on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis; the remaining atoms of the solvent are statistically disordered (ratio 0.5:0.5) about this axis.

Project description:In the title complex, [CoCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)]Cl·2.5H(2)O, the Co(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms of two bis-chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, one water mol-ecule and a chloride ligand in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The dihedral angle between the two phen ligands is 84.21?(3)°. In the crystal structure, complex mol-ecules and chloride ions are linked into centrosymmetric four-component clusters by inter-molecular O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Of the 2.5 solvent water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, two were refined as disordered over two sites with fixed occupancies of ratios 0.50:0.50 and 0.60:0.40, while another was refined with half occupancy.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [MnCl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(7)H(6)O(4)·2H(2)O, the Mn(II) complex assumes a distorted octa-hedral geometry formed by two chloride anions and two phenanthroline (phen) ligands. The 2,6-dihydroxy-benzoic acid mol-ecule is disordered about an inversion center. The face-to-face separations of 3.540 (11) and 3.429 (8) Å between parallel phen ligands indicate the existence of π-π stacking between adjacent Mn(II) complexes. Uncoordinated water mol-ecules are linked with complex and dihydroxy-benzoic acid mol-ecules via O-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Mol-ecules are connected into layers in the ac plane via extensive C-H⋯Cl contacts as each Cl atom forms two such inter-actions. Contacts between the layers are of the type C=O⋯π [O⋯centroid distance = 3.110 (8) Å].

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [CrCl(C12H8N2)2(H2O)][ZnCl4]·H2O, has been determined from synchrotron data. The Cr(III) ion is bonded to four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, one water mol-ecule and a Cl atom in a cis arrangement, displaying an overall distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The Cr-N(phen) bond lengths are in the range of 2.0495 (18) to 2.0831 (18) Å, while the Cr-Cl and Cr-(OH2) bond lengths are 2.2734 (7) and 1.9986 (17) Å, respectively. The tetra-hedral [ZnCl4](2-) anion is slightly distorted owing to its involvement in O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding with coordinating and non-coordinating water mol-ecules. The two types of water mol-ecules also inter-act through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The observed hydrogen-bonding pattern leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network structure.

An isolated Cl(-) counter-anion and a positionally disordered DMSO mol-ecule [occupancy ratio 0.654 (4):0.346 (4)] are also present. In the structure, the complex cations inter-act with the Cl(-) counter-anions and the DMSO solvent mol-ecules via weak C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional network.
