Di-μ-chlorido-bis-{chlorido[4-nitro-N-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene-κN)aniline-κN]mercury(II)}.

ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title complex, [Hg(2)Cl(4)(C(12)H(9)N(3)O(2))(2)], the Hg(II) ion is in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment formed by the N atoms of the diimine ligand, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom. One of the bridging Hg-Cl bonds is significantly longer than the other.

Project description:The whole mol-ecule of the title complex, [Hg2Cl4(C18H15N3)2], is generated by inversion symmetry. It was synthesized from the pyridine-derived Schiff base N-phenyl-N'-[(pyridin-2-yl)methyl-idene]benzene-1,4-di-amine (PPMBD). The five-coordinated Hg(2+) ions have a distorted square-pyramidal environment defined by two N atoms, viz. the imine and the other pyridyl [Hg-N = 2.467 (6) and 2.310 (6) Å, respectively] belonging to the bidentate imino-pyridine ligand, and three Cl atoms [Hg-Cl = 2.407 (2), 2.447 (2) and 3.031 (2) Å]. The longest Hg-Cl bond is bridging about the inversion centre. In the ligand, the central ring and pyridine ring are oriented at a dihedral angle of 8.1 (4)°, while the planes of the pyridine ring and the terminal phenyl ring are oriented at a dihedral angle of 53.8 (4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming sheets parallel to (001).

Project description:A tetra-nuclear ZnII complex, [Zn4(C13H11N6O)2Cl6(H2O)2] or {[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl2)](μCl)2[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl)]}2, was synthesized by mixing an equimolar amount of a methanol solution containing ZnCl2 and a methanol solution containing the ligand H2 L [1,5-bis-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-ene)carbono-hydrazide]. In the tetra-nuclear complex, each of the two ligand mol-ecules forms a dinuclear unit that is connected to another dinuclear unit by two bridging chloride anions. In each dinuclear unit, one ZnII cation is penta-coordinated in a N2OCl2 in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, while the other ZnII cation is hexa-coordinated in a N3OCl2 environment with a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The basal plane around the penta-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one oxygen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical position occupied by a chloride anion. The basal plane of the hexa-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one hydrazinyl nitro-gen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical positions occupied by a water oxygen atom and a bridged chloro anion from another dinuclear unit, leading to a tetra-nuclear complex. A series of intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds is observed in each tetra-nuclear unit. In the crystal, the tetra-nuclear units are connected by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a planar two-dimensional structure in the ac plane.

The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. There is inter-molecular π-π stacking between adjacent phenanthroline ligands, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.151 (3) Å.

Project description:In the title complex, [PtCl2(C5H11N)(C6H6N2O2)], the Pt(II) metal atom displays a slightly distorted trans-PtN2Cl2 square-planar coordination geometry. The dihedral angle between the mean plane of the benzene and piperidine rings is 89.03 (3)°. In the crystal structure, inversion dimers are formed via N-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bond inter-actions, resulting in chains parallel to the [001] direction. The benzene rings within the chains show π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.801 (3) Å] and neighbouring chains inter-act via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Hg(2)Cl(4)(C(6)H(12)N(2))](n), each Hg(II) center within the chain is four-coordinated by one terminal Cl atom, two bridging μ(2)-Cl atoms, and one N-atom donor from a μ(2)-1,4-diaza-bicyclo-[2.2.2]octane (μ(2)-daco) ligand in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The daco ligand acts as an end-to-end bridging ligand and bridges adjacent Hg(II) centers, forming a chain running along [001]. Weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the chains into a three-dimensional network. Comparison of the structural differences with previous findings suggests that the space between the two N donors, as well as the skeletal rigidity in N-heterocyclic linear ligands, may play an important role in the construction of such supra-molecular networks.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Co(C(13)H(14)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](ClO(4))(2)·2C(13)H(14)N(2)·2C(7)H(8)N(2)O(2)}(n), the Co(II) ion lies on a crystallographic inversion center and is coordinated by four N atoms from four symmetry-related 1,3-di-4-pyridylpropane ligands and two O atoms from two water ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The 1,3-di-4-pyridylpropane ligands are doubly bridging and connect the Co(II) ions into one-dimensional chains. The asymmetric unit also contains one uncoordinated 1,3-di-4-pyridylpropane mol-ecule, one 2-methyl-4-nitro-aniline mol-ecule and one perchlorate anion. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds connect the one-dimensional chains into a two-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title complex, [RuCl2(C12H9BrN2)2] or [RuCl2(PM-BrA)2] (PM-BrA = 4-bromo-N-(2'-pyridyl-methyl-ene)aniline), the Ru(II) cation is located on a centre of inversion and is surrounded by four N atoms of two PM-BrA ligands in the equatorial plane and by two Cl atoms in a trans axial arrangement, displaying a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. Two C atoms in the benzene ring of the PM-BrA ligand are equally disordered over two sets of sites. The benzene and pyridine rings of the PM-BrA ligand are oriented at dihedral angles of 62.1 (10) and 73.7 (11)° under consideration of the two orientations of the disordered benzene ring. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules are connected via C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions into a layered arrangement parallel (100). C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonding and weak aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions complete a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
