Bis(2,4-dichloro-phen-oxy-acetato-?O,O)(5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine-?N,N')cobalt(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Co(C(8)H(5)Cl(2)O(3))(C(12)H(12)N(2))], the Co(II) atom, lying on a twofold rotation axis, is coordinated by four O atoms from two chelating 2,4-dichloro-phen-oxy-acetate ligands and two N atoms from a 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand, displaying a distorted octa-hedral geometry. A three-dimensional supra-molecular structure is formed through inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions between the pyridine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.779?(2)?Å].

Project description:The title compound, {[Cu(2)(C(8)H(5)Cl(2)O(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]NO(3)}(n) was prepared by reacting copper(II) nitrate with 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) and (2,4-dichloro-phen-oxy)acetic acid under solvothermal conditions. Each of two copper(I) atoms in the asymmetric unit is three-coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipy ligands and one O atom from the (2,4-dichloro-phen-oxy)acetate ligand. As both ligands act as bridging ligands, a double-stranded chain structure is observed.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(12)H(12)N(2), contains two half-mol-ecules related by an inversion center, the planes of their pyridine rings being oriented at a dihedral angle of 69.62?(4)°. In the crystal structure, a ?-? contact between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.895?(3)?Å] may stabilize the structure. A weak C-H?? inter-action is also found.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, {[Ca(C(8)H(5)Cl(2)O(3))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O}(n), the Ca(II) atom is eight-coordinated by six O atoms from four different (2,4-dichloro-phen-oxy)acetate ligands and two water mol-ecules, and displays a distorted square-anti-prismatic coordination geometry. The compound forms an infinite zigzag chain through connection of the metal centers by (2,4-dichlorphen-oxy)acetate ligands and hydrogen bonding of coordinated and inter-stitial water mol-ecules. These chains are further hydrogen bonded with neighboring chains, forming a supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Pt(CH(3))(3)I(C(12)H(12)N(2))], the Pt(IV) atom is six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral configuration with one CH(3) group and the I atom forming a near perpendicular axis relative to the square plane formed by the bipyridine ligand and the two remaining CH(3) groups. The CH(3) group trans to the I atom has a slightly elongated bond to Pt compared to the other CH(3) groups, indicating a difference in trans influence between iodine and the bipyridine ligand.
