Neodymium(III) molybdenum(VI) borate, NdBO(2)MoO(4).

ABSTRACT: Single crystals of NdBO(2)MoO(4) were obtained from a molybdenum oxide-boron oxide flux under an air atmosphere. The structure features double chains of edge- and face-sharing distorted [NdO(10)] bicapped square-anti-prisms, which are linked by rows of isolated [MoO(4)] tetra-hedra and by zigzag chains of corner-sharing [BO(3)] groups, all of them running along the b axis. The chains of [NdO(10)], chains of [BO(3)] and rows of [MoO(4)] groups are arranged in layers parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:Scheelite-type NaNd[MoO(4)](2) contains one crystallographic position (site symmetry [Formula: see text]) for the large cations, which is mixed-occupied by Na(+) and Nd(3+) cations in a 1:1 molar ratio. Thus, both are surrounded by eight O atoms in the shape of a trigonal dodeca-hedron. Furthermore, the structure consists of crystallographically unique [MoO(4)](2-) units (site symmetry [Formula: see text]) surrounded by eight sodium and neodymium cations, which are all vertex-attached. The polyhedra around the Na(+)/Nd(3+) cations are connected to four others via common edges, building up a three-dimensional network in whose tetra-hedral voids of O atoms the Mo(6+) cations reside.

Project description:The title compound, Li(3.5)Eu(1.5)(MoO(4))(4), was prepared by solid-state reactions. The fundamental building units of the structure are LiO(4) polyhedra (site symmetry [Formula: see text]), distorted LiO(6) polyhedra and MoO(4) tetra-hedra, which are further inter-connected via corner-sharing O atoms. One site is occupied by both Li and Eu atoms in a substituent disordered manner (0.25:0.75), and the Li/Eu atoms are coordinated by eight O atoms in a distorted square-antiprismatic manner.

Project description:In scheelite-type La(0.667)[MoO(4)], one crystallographically unique position with site symmetry -4.. and an occupancy of 2/3 is found for the La(3+) cation. The cation is surrounded by eight O atoms in the shape of a trigonal dodeca-hedron. The structure also contains one [MoO(4)](2-) anion (site symmetry -4..), which is surrounded by eight vertex-attached La(3+) cations. The polyhedra around the La(3+) cations are inter-connected via common edges, building up a three-dimensional network, in the tetra-hedral voids of which the Mo(6+) cations reside.

Project description:Single crystals of triclinic Pr(2)(B(2)O(5))(MoO(4)) were prepared from an incongruently melting flux in the system Pr(2)O(3)-MoO(3)-B(2)O(3) in a platinum crucible in an atmosphere of air. In the crystal structure, distorted edge-sharing [PrO(8)] square anti-prisms form a three-dimensional framework. These are further linked by isolated [MoO(4)] tetra-hedra and isolated pyroborate groups [B(2)O(5)], the latter consisting of two independent trigonal [BO(3)] groups sharing one O atom. The [MoO(4)] tetra-hedra and the [B(2)O(5)] groups are arranged in alternating layers parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:The title compound, K(2)Sm(MoO(4))(PO(4)), has been prepared under atmospheric conditions using a high temperature solution growth (HTSG) method. The structure of K(2)Sm(MoO(4))(PO(4)) is isotypic with other A(2)M(MoO(4))(PO(4)) compounds, where A = Na or K, and M = trivalent rare earth cation. It can be described as being built up from two-dimensional anionic layers with composition [Sm(MoO(4))(PO(4))](2-) that are stacked along the c axis and are inter-connected by K(+) cations which are in an eightfold coordination by O atoms. The SmO(8), MoO(4) and PO(4) polyhedra exhibit 2 symmetry.

Project description:The title compound, [MoF(2)O(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))], has non-crystallographic mirror symmetry. The Mo(VI) atom shows a distorted octa-hedral environment, with the phenanthroline N atoms and the two oxide groups forming the equatorial plane and the F atoms occupying the apical positions. Weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯F hydrogen-bonding contacts and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.662 (1) Å] connect the complex mol-ecules into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

One of the two crystallographiclly independent morpholinium cations is half-occupied. Inter-molecular N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the cations, polyoxoanions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules.

Adjacent clusters are linked via N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the imidazole cations and polyoxidoanions into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Electrophoresis Assembly of Novel Superhydrophobic Molybdenum Trioxide (MoO₃) Films with Great Stability.

Project description:This work presents a hydrothermal synthesis approach to produce novel schistose molybdenum trioxide (MoO₃) powders with wide application, and introduces a facile electrophoresis assembly technique to construct the superhydrophobic MoO₃ films (SMFs) with contact angle up to 169 ± 1° at normal pressure and temperature. The microstructures and chemical compositions of product were analyzed by field emission scanning electron microcopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD). The wettability and stability studies indicate that the SMFs all show great resistance in various environments with adjusting factors, including droplets with different surface tension, pH, relative humidity, etc., and the stability can be maintained at least for five months. Notably, this paper will provides a valuable reference for designing novel oxide powders and their high-efficient hydrophobic film formation with self-cleaning or water proof properties.

Project description:The title compound, [Nd(C(8)H(6)NO(4))(C(2)O(4))(H(2)O)](n), is a layer-like coordination polymer. The Nd(III) ion is coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from three bridging 5-aza-nium-yl-isophthalate (Haip) ligands, four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two oxalate (ox) anions and one ligated water mol-ecule in a tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The Haip anion acts as a ?(3)-bridge, connecting three Nd(III) ions through two carboxyl-ate groups; the ox anion adopts a bis-bidentate-bridging mode, linking two Nd(III) ions. The layer framework is further extended to a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure through N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.
