4-(5,6-Dihydro-benzimidazo[1,2-c]quinazolin-6-yl)benzene-1,3-diol dimethyl sulfoxide monosolvate.

ABSTRACT: In the title solvated benzimidazole compound, C(20)H(15)N(3)O(2)·C(2)H(6)OS, both the benzimidazole fused-ring system and the complete dimethyl sulfoxide solvent mol-ecule are disordered over two sets of sites, in 0.750?(5):0.250?(5) and 0.882?(4):0.118?(4) ratios, respectively. The conformation of the pyrimidine ring is close to a half-chair for the major disorder component, whereas for the minor component it is close to a boat. The dihy-droxy-phenyl ring is almost perpendicular to the mean plane of the benzimidazole ring [dihedral angle = 87.3?(2)° for the major disorder component and 88.3?(5)° for the minor disorder component]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into layers parallel to (110) by O-H?N and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. A bifurcated O-H?(O,S) bond links the benzimidazole and solvent mol-ecules.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(20)H(15)N(3)O, contains two independent mol-ecules, each of which is disordered over two sets of sites corresponding to a rotation of approximately 180° of the dihydro-benzimidazoquinazoline moiety, with refined site occupancies of 0.7479?(13) and 0.2521?(12) for both mol-ecules. The pyrimidine rings are in sofa conformations. In one mol-ecule, the hy-droxy-substituted benzene ring forms dihedral angles of 83.9?(3) and 82.4?(4)° for the major and minor components, respectively, with the mean plane of the benzimidazole ring system. The corres-ponding dihedral angles in the other mol-ecule are 88.31?(14) and 85.8?(6)°. Project description:In the title compound, C(21)H(17)N(3)O, the imidazole ring is essentially planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.009?(1)?Å. The mol-ecule is disordered over two sites corresponding to a rotation of approximately 180° with a refined occupancy ratio of 0.9180?(14):0.0820?(14). The central pyrim-idine ring makes dihedral angles of 5.02?(5), 3.97?(5) and 6.28?(5)°, respectively, with the planes of the imidazole and the terminal phenyl rings for the major component; the values for the minor component are 5.8?(7), 5.0?(6) and 8.5?(6)°, respectively. Part of the observed planarity is accounted for in terms of an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, mol-ecules of the major component are connected by O-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming supra-molecular chains along the c axis.

The nitro-gen-containing six-membered ring adopts a half-chair conformation. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked through O-H?N hydrogen bonds into screw chains along the b axis; adjacent chains are further connected by N-H?O hydrogen bonds, thereby forming a two-dimensional network lying parallel to the bc plane. Weak C-H?? and ??? inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.5258?(8) and 3.7184?(7)?Å are present and N?O [2.6816?(15) and 3.0519?(15)?Å] short contacts also occur.

The presence of a methyl-ene group between the benzo[de]isoquinoline and benzene-sulfonyl moieties allows the 4-nitro-phenyl ring and the benzo[de]isoquinoline system to be parallel with respect to each other, so that the mol-ecule adopts a U-shaped spatial conformation. The dihedral angle between mean planes of these aromatic groups is 4.4 (1)°. This special arrangement enables neighboring mol-ecules to be inter-calated, forming slipped π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.535 (2) Å] between the 4-nitro-phenyl and benzo[de]isoquinoline groups and point-to-face C-H⋯π inter-actions between the benzo[de]isoquinoline and benzene-sulfonyl aromatic systems. In addition, the crystal packing also features an inter-molecular N-H⋯O inter-action involving the amine group and the dimethyl sulfoxide solvent mol-ecule.

Project description:The title compound (systematic name3,7-dihy-droxy-9-meth-oxy-1-methyl-6H-benzo[c]chromen-6-one dimethyl sulfoxide monosolvate), C15H12O5·C2H6OS, was isolated from an unidentified endophytic fungus (belonging to class Ascomycetes) of Taxus sp. In the crystal, both the alternariol 9-O-methyl ether (AME) and the dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) mol-ecules exhibit crystallographic mirror symmetry. One of the hy-droxy groups makes bifurcated hydrogen bonds, viz. an intra-molecular bond with the carbonyl group and an inter-molecular bond with the carbonyl group in an inversion-related AME mol-ecule. In the crystal, the AME mol-ecules are organized into stacks parallel with the b axis by ?-? inter-actions between centrosymmetrically related mol-ecules [the distance between the centroid of the central ring and the centroid of the meth-oxy-substituted benzene ring in the next mol-ecule of the stack is 3.6184?(5)?Å]. Pairs of DMSO mol-ecules, linked via centrosymmetric C-H?O contacts, are inserted into the voids created by the AME mol-ecules, making O-H?O and C-H?O contacts with the hosts.
