ABSTRACT: The dinuclear compound, [V(2)(C(12)H(11)BrN(2)O(2))(2)(CH(3)O)(2)O(2)], lies on a center of inversion. The doubly-deprotonated Schiff base O,N,O'-chelates to the V(V) atom; two metal atoms are bridged by the methoxide units. The coordination geometry is a distorted octa-hedron. Weak inter-molecular C-H?N hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure. The bromo-phenyl unit is disordered over two positions, with the major component being in a 0.909?(6) proportion.

Project description:The V(V) atom in the title complex, [V(C(14)H(8)BrClN(2)O(2))(CH(3)O)O(CH(3)OH)], is six-coordinated by one phenolate O, one imine N and one enolic O atom of the hydrazone ligand, one oxide O atom, one methanol O atom and one methoxide O atom in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings of the hydrazone ligand is 13.2?(3)°. The deviation of the V atom towards the oxide O atom from the plane defined by the three donor atoms of the hydrazone ligand and the meth-oxy O atom is 0.318?(2)?Å. Bond lengths are comparable with those observed in similar oxidovanadium(V) complexes with hydrazone ligands. In the crystal, pairs of mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming dimers.

Project description:The title oxidovanadium(V) complex, [V(C(17)H(16)N(2)O(3))(CH(3)O)O], was obtained by the reaction of 3-eth-oxy-2-hy-droxy-benzaldehyde, 4-methyl-benzohydrazide and vanadyl sulfate in methanol. The V(V) atom is coordinated by the O,N,O'-tridentate Schiff base ligand, one methano-late O atom and one oxide O atom, forming a distorted VO(4)N square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The oxide O atom lies at the apex of the square pyramid and the N atom of the ligand and the methano-late O atom are trans. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings of the ligand is 1.8 (3)°.

The V(V) atom is six-coordinated by the N,N,O-tridentate Schiff base ligand, one methano-late O atom, one methanol O atom and one oxide O atom, forming a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The methanol O atom lies trans to the V=O group. The dihedral angle between the pyridine ring and the naphthalene ring system is 31.52 (10)°. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds occur.

The tetra-nuclear mol-ecule features a three-rung-staircase Sn(4)O(4) core in which two independent Sn(IV) atoms are bridged by the triazolide group. The negatively charged N atom of the triazolide group binds to the terminal Sn atom at a shorter distance [Sn-N = 2.262 (3), 2.254 (3) Å] compared with the neutral N atom that binds to the central Sn atom[SnN = 2.617 (4); 2.830 (3) Å]. The oxide O atom is three-coordinate whereas the methano-late O atom is two-coordinate. The terminal Sn atom is five-coordinate in a cis-C(3)SnNO trigonal-bipyramidal environment, whereas the central Sn atom is six-coordinate in a C(2)SnNO(3) skew-trapezoidal-bipyramidal geometry.
