ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cd(C(10)H(8)O(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Cd(II) ion has inversion symmetry and is coordinated by O atoms from two water mol-ecules and two bridging 2,2'-(?-p-phenyl-enedi-oxy)diacetate ligands and two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands, giving a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The diacetate and 4,4'-bipyridine ligands also lie across inversion centers. The bridging ligands form layers parallel to (11[Formula: see text]), with adjacent layers inter-connected via O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the carboxyl-ate O atoms, giving a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Project description:The title coordination polymer, [Ni(C(10)H(8)O(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)](n), was obtained by the hydro-thermal reaction of nickel(II) sulfate, benzene-1,4-dioxy-diacetic acid (p-phenyl-enedioxy-diacetic acid) and 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bpy) in alkaline aqueous solution. Each Ni(II) atom is coordinated by two O atoms from two benzene-1,4-dioxy-diacetate ligands, two N atoms from two 4,4'-bpy ligands and two water mol-ecules, and displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Ni(II) atom and benzene-1,4-dioxy-diacetate and 4,4'-bpy moieties lie on inversion centres. The benzene-1,4-dioxy-diacetate ligands bridge the Ni(II) atoms to form infinite zigzag chains, which are further inter-connected by 4,4'-bpy ligands to form a grid-like layer parallel to the (01) plane. Moreover, there are O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions within the grid-like layer between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the carboxyl-ate O atoms.

The central Cd(II) ion is in a slightly disorted octa-hedral environment, coordinated by two aqua ligands, two (4-tolyl-sulfan-yl)acetate ligands and two bridging 4,4'-bipyridine ligands. The Cd(II) ion lies on a twofold rotation axis. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect adjacent chains, forming a layer structure. An intramolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is also present.

The geometry is square-pyramidal with the water O atom occupying the apical position. The carboxyl-ate group bridges adjacent Cu atoms, forming an infinite zigzag chain extending parallel to [001]. The chains are linked into layers by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The Cu and water O atoms lie on special positions of site symmetry 2.

Project description:In the title coordination complex, {[Cd(C(10)H(8)O(6))(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O}(n) the Cd(II) atom is seven-coordinated in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry, the penta-gonal plane comprising four O-atom donors from the 2,2'-(1,2-phenyl-enedi-oxy)diacetate chelate ligand together with a bridging carboxyl-ate O-atom donor, with the axial sites occupied by two water mol-ecules. The resulting helical chains extend along the b axis and are inter-connected by extensive O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, which also involve the water mol-ecule of solvation, giving a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The central CuN(2)O(4) motif of the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], exhibits a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral geometry around the metal atom, showing a considerably long Cu-O bond distance of 2.5058 (12) Å towards the second perchlorate group, giving a (4 + 1+1)-type coordination mode. In the crystal, the components are linked via inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (001). Additional stabilization within these layers is provided by π-π [centroid-centroid distances of 3.7848 (9)-4.4231 (9) Å] stacking inter-actions.

The local coordination polyhedron around the Nd(III) ion is a bicapped trigonal prism. Two Nd(III) centers are bridged by four carboxyl-ate groups to form an Nd(2) dimeric unit; these are further connected by 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate linkers, resulting in a layered coordination network.

The carboxyl-ate groups of the nitro-phthalate anion adopt a syn-anti bridging mode, linking adjacent Cd(II) cations and forming a polymeric chain running along the a axis.
