Ethyl-enediammonium tetra-aqua-disulfato-cadmate.

ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title compound, [NH(3)(CH(2))(2)NH(3)][Cd(SO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)], consists of [Cd(SO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](2-) anions that are built from octa-hedral Cd(H(2)O)(4)O(2) and SO(4) tetra-hedral units linked by corner sharing. The ethyl-ene-diamminium cations are linked to the anions via N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The asymmetric unit contains one-half of the compound, the other half being related to the first by an inversion centre. The crystal structure presents alternate stacking of the inorganic and organic layers along the crystallographic b axis. The structure cohesion and stability is further assured by O(water)-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(2)H(10)N(2))(1.5)[Y(C(4)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]}(n) {system-atic name: catena-poly[sesqui(ethyl-enediammonium) [[tetra-aquabis-(squarato-?O)yttrium(III)]-?-squarato-?(2)O:O']]}, was synthesized by slow evaporation of an acid solution. The asymetric unit contains one yttrium cation in an anti-prismatic environnement, three squarate groups, one and a half protonated ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules and four water mol-ecules. YO(8) polyhedra are connected through bis-(mono-dentate) squarates, leading to infinite zigzag chains, in between which are located ammonium groups. A framework of hydrogen bonds between protonated amine N atoms, water mol-ecules and squarate anions ensures the cohesion of the structure.

Project description:The title compound, 2C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·B(14)O(20)(OH)(6) (4-), consists of a centrosymmetric tetra-deca-borate anion and two ethyl-enediammonium cations. The anions are inter-connected through strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network with channels along [100], [010], [001] and [111]. The diprotonated cations reside in the channels and inter-act with the inorganic framework by extensive N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Ethyl-enediammonium tetra-bromido-mercurate(II) monohydrate.

Project description:The Hg(II) atoms in the crystal structure of the title compound, (C(2)H(10)N(2))[HgBr(4)]·H(2)O, are tetra-hedrally coordinated by four Br atoms and the resulting [HgBr(4)](2-) ions are inter-connected to the [NH(3)-CH(2)-CH(2)-NH(3)](2+) ions and water mol-ecules by N-H⋯Br and O-H⋯Br bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. N-H⋯O inter-actions are also present. The observed three different Hg-Br distances of 2.5597 (6), 2.6862 (8) and 2.6923 (8) Å in the tetra-bromo-mercurate unit are due to the connection of Br atoms to different numbers of H atoms. The Hg, O and two Br atoms are located on a crystallographic mirror plane. The cation has symmetry with the center of the C-C bond lying on a crystallographic center of inversion.

Project description:The title ionic compound, C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·2Cl(-), crystallizes with a center of symmetry within the cation. Each of the positively charged ammonium ends of the mol-ecule is trigonally hydrogen bonded to three different chloride counter-ions, while each of the chloride ions is trigonally hydrogen bonded to three different ethyl-enediammonium cations. The hydrogen-bonding network leads to stabilization of the structure.

Crystal structure of the tetra-gonal polymorph of bis-(1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium) tetra-bromido-cadmate.

Project description:Both unique Cd atoms in the tetra-gonal polymorph of bis-(1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium) tetra-bromido-cadmate, (C6H11N2)2[CdBr4], occupy special positions (site symmetry -4). The crystal structure consists of isolated tetra-hedral [CdBr4](2-) anions which are surrounded by 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium cations. The methyl and ethyl side chains of the cations show positional disorder in a 0.590 (11):0.410 (11) ratio. In the crystal, (C6H11N2)(+) cations display three weak C-H⋯Br hydrogen-bond inter-actions through the imidazolium ring H atoms with the Br(-) ligands of the surrounding complex anions. The alkyl groups of the side chains are not involved in hydrogen bonding.

Its crystal structure can be described as an alternate stacking of inorganic layers of tetra-aqua-bis(sulfato-O)magnesium [Mg(SO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](2-) anions ( symmetry) and organic layers of [NH(3)(CH(2))(2)NH(3)](2+) cations along the crystallographic b axis. The anions, built up from tetrahedral SO(4) units and octahedral Mg(H(2)O)(4)O(2) units, and the cations are linked together through N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. O-H?O inter-actions are also present.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the crystal structure of the title compound, C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·Cl(2)I(-)·Cl(-), contains two ethyl-ene-diammonium cations, two [ICl(2)](-) anions and two Cl(-) anions, of which one cation, one [ICl(2)](-) anion and one Cl(-) anion have site symmetry 2, with the mid-point of the C-C bond of the cation, the I atom of [ICl(2)](-) anion and the Cl(-) anion located on the twofold rotation axes. The two independent cations show different conformations, the N-C-C-N torsion angles being 160.1 (2) and -73.1 (4)°. Project description:In the title compound, (NH(4))(2)[Fe(C(10)H(12)N(2)O(8))(H(2)O)]·3H(2)O, the Fe(II) center is in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry. Two carboxyl-ate O and two N atoms from the ethyl-enediaminetetra-acetate (EDTA) ion and one O atom from coordinated water comprise the equatorial plane. Two other carboxyl-ate O atoms from the EDTA ion occupy the apical sites. Both ammonium cations and all water mol-ecules function as hydrogen-bond donors, and ten N-H⋯O and nine O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form a three-dimensional network between the complex anions, cations and the water mol-ecules.

The asymmetric unit contains one-half of the complex and two water mol-ecules of solvation. The Zn atom occupies a special position on an inversion centre. This results in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment, which consists of the O atoms from two phospho-nic acids and four water mol-ecules. The crystal structure displays N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, which creates a three-dimensional network.

Bis(creatininium) tetra-chlorido-cadmate(II).

Project description:In the title compound, (C(4)H(8)N(3)O)(2)[CdCl(4)], the asymmetric unit comprises two creatininium cations and one tetra-chloridocadmate anion. Cd?O secondary bonding links one of the two imidazole rings and the anion into ion pairs. The free and bound cations form layers between which the [CdCl(4)](2-) anions are sandwiched. The Cd(II) atom adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry in which the Cd?O bond is axial. Inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds form a two-dimensional network parallel to (001) which ensures the junction between creatininium cations and [CdCl(4)](2-) anions.
