Yttrium ethyl-enediammonium squarate tetra-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, {(C(2)H(10)N(2))(1.5)[Y(C(4)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]}(n) {system-atic name: catena-poly[sesqui(ethyl-enediammonium) [[tetra-aquabis-(squarato-?O)yttrium(III)]-?-squarato-?(2)O:O']]}, was synthesized by slow evaporation of an acid solution. The asymetric unit contains one yttrium cation in an anti-prismatic environnement, three squarate groups, one and a half protonated ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules and four water mol-ecules. YO(8) polyhedra are connected through bis-(mono-dentate) squarates, leading to infinite zigzag chains, in between which are located ammonium groups. A framework of hydrogen bonds between protonated amine N atoms, water mol-ecules and squarate anions ensures the cohesion of the structure.

Project description:The title compound, C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·2HC(4)O(4) (-)·H(2)O, a new polymorph of ethyl-enediammonium bis-(hydrogen squarate) monohydrate, was synthesized by slow evaporation of an acid solution. The asymetric unit contains two hydrogen squarate anions, two half-mol-ecules of protonated ethyl-enediamine arranged around a twofold axis and one water mol-ecule. In the crystal, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the hydrogen squarate anions, protonated N atoms from the amine group and water mol-ecules lead to a three-dimensional framework. In particular, the cohesion between the squarate groups is ensured by very short intermolecular hydrogen bonds bonds. The title compound crystallized together with the previously reported polymorph [Mathew et al. (2002 ?). J. Mol. Struct.641, 263-279].

Project description:The title compound, 2C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·B(14)O(20)(OH)(6) (4-), consists of a centrosymmetric tetra-deca-borate anion and two ethyl-enediammonium cations. The anions are inter-connected through strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network with channels along [100], [010], [001] and [111]. The diprotonated cations reside in the channels and inter-act with the inorganic framework by extensive N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [NH(3)(CH(2))(2)NH(3)][Cd(SO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)], consists of [Cd(SO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](2-) anions that are built from octa-hedral Cd(H(2)O)(4)O(2) and SO(4) tetra-hedral units linked by corner sharing. The ethyl-ene-diamminium cations are linked to the anions via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The asymmetric unit contains one-half of the compound, the other half being related to the first by an inversion centre. The crystal structure presents alternate stacking of the inorganic and organic layers along the crystallographic b axis. The structure cohesion and stability is further assured by O(water)-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Ethyl-enediammonium tetra-bromido-mercurate(II) monohydrate.

Project description:The Hg(II) atoms in the crystal structure of the title compound, (C(2)H(10)N(2))[HgBr(4)]·H(2)O, are tetra-hedrally coordinated by four Br atoms and the resulting [HgBr(4)](2-) ions are inter-connected to the [NH(3)-CH(2)-CH(2)-NH(3)](2+) ions and water mol-ecules by N-H⋯Br and O-H⋯Br bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. N-H⋯O inter-actions are also present. The observed three different Hg-Br distances of 2.5597 (6), 2.6862 (8) and 2.6923 (8) Å in the tetra-bromo-mercurate unit are due to the connection of Br atoms to different numbers of H atoms. The Hg, O and two Br atoms are located on a crystallographic mirror plane. The cation has symmetry with the center of the C-C bond lying on a crystallographic center of inversion.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(8)H(20)N(+)·C(4)H(5)O(5) (-)·1.36H(2)O, contains two independent ion pairs, with similar conformations, and three water mol-ecules of crystallization, one water mol-ecule haing a site-occupancy factor of 0.721 (5). Intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, involving the hydr-oxy groups and an O atom of each carboxyl-ate anion, generate five-membered rings involving S(5) ring motifs. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked together by water mol-ecules through four-membered O-H⋯O-H⋯O-H inter-actions to form one-dimensional infinite chains along the a axis. Since the mol-ecules are also linked into one-dimensional infinite chains along the b axis, mol-ecular sheets parallel to the (001) plane are created. Overall, the crystal structure is stabilized by two intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, nine inter-molecular O-H⋯O and ten C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title ionic compound, C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·2Cl(-), crystallizes with a center of symmetry within the cation. Each of the positively charged ammonium ends of the mol-ecule is trigonally hydrogen bonded to three different chloride counter-ions, while each of the chloride ions is trigonally hydrogen bonded to three different ethyl-enediammonium cations. The hydrogen-bonding network leads to stabilization of the structure.

The anions, built up from tetrahedral SO(4) units and octahedral Mg(H(2)O)(4)O(2) units, and the cations are linked together through N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The structure contains mono- and diprotonated ethyl-enediamine cations, [Mo(5)O(15)(HPO(4))(2)](4-) anions and uncoord-in-ated water mol-ecules. The [Mo(5)O(15)(HPO(4))(2)](4-) hetero-poly-oxometallate anion is made up of five MoO(6) octa-hedra sharing an edge and forming a ring, which is closed by common corners of the terminal MoO(6) octa-hedron. The ring is topped on both sides by two slightly distorted PO(4) tetra-hedra, sharing three corners with three MoO(6) octa-hedra. The terminal oxygen atoms of the PO(4) units are protonated. Together with the anions, the water mol-ecules and the ethyl-enediammonium cations are involved in N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonding, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
