Trans-Bis(acridine-?N)dichloridopalladium(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [PdCl(2)(C(13)H(9)N)(2)], the Pd(II) ion is four-coordinated in an essentially square-planar environment by two N atoms from two acridine ligands and two Cl(-) anions. The Pd atom is located on an inversion centre, and thus the asymmetric unit contains one half of the complex and the PdN(2)Cl(2) unit is exactly planar. The dihedral angle between the PdN(2)Cl(2) unit and the acridine ligand is 84.66?(6)°. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the a axis connected by C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [110]. In the columns, numerous inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the six-membered rings are present, the shortest ring centroid-centroid distance being 3.722?(4)?Å.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [PdCl(2)(C(20)H(19)O(2)P)(2)], shows a square-planar geometry for the Pd(II) ion within a Cl(2)Pd[PPh(PhOMe)(2)](2) ligand set. The Pd(II) atom sits on an inversion centre and therefore the asymmetric unit contains the Pd(II) atom, one Cl atom and one bis-(2-methoxy-phen-yl)phenyl-phosphine ligand. The trans arrangement of ligands is also imposed by symmetry.

[Bis-(diphenyl-phosphino)methane-?P,P']dichloridopalladium(II).

Project description:The title complex, [PdCl(2)(C(25)H(22)P(2))], is a slightly distorted square-planar bis-(diphenyl-phosphino)methane cis-complex of PdCl(2). The structure of a polymorph of the title compound has been described earlier, but the arrangement of the mol-ecules observed in the current structure is distinctively different from that previously reported [Steffen & Palenik (1976 ?). Inorg. Chem.15, 2432-2439]. The earlier report describes a structure with individual well separated mol-ecules crystallizing in space group P2(1)/n. The polymorph described here, which is isostructrural to its Pt analogue [Babai et al. (2006 ?). Z. Anorg. Allg. Chem.632, 639-644], crystallizes in C2/c with chains of C2-symmetric mol-ecules stretching parallel to the b axis. The Pd atoms and the bis-phosphino-methane units are located on two different positions created by a non-crystallographic mirror operation with an occupancy of 0.6677?(11) for the major (PCH(2)P)Pd moiety. The positions of the Cl atoms of the minor moiety do coincide perfectly with those of the next mol-ecule along the chain parallel to b, and they are thus not included in the disorder. The phenyl rings also do not take part in the disorder and are common to both the major and minor moieties of the (PCH(2)P)PdCl(2) units. Assuming no defects, mol-ecules in each chain will thus have to be oriented the same way and the effect of the disorder of the (PCH(2)P)Pd unit is thus a reversal in direction of the chains parallel to b. The presence of light streaks of intensity between actual Bragg peaks indicates that a somehow ordered arrangement not resolved in the Bragg diffraction data may be present (i.e. an incommensurate superstructure) rather than a random or domain arrangement of the chains.

The Pt atom is located on an inversion centre, and thus the asymmetric unit contains one half of the complex and the PtN(2)Br(2) unit is exactly planar. The dihedral angle between the PtN(2)Br(2) unit and acridine ligand is 78.98 (9)°. In the crystal structure, the complex mol-ecules are arranged in two distinct chains along [110] and [10]. In the chains, inter-molecular π-π inter-actions between the pyridyl and benzene rings connect the complex mol-ecules, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.631 (4) Å.

The S and C atoms of the dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solvent mol-ecule are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.8976?(18):0.1024?(18) ratio. The DMSO O atom accepts three C-H?O hydrogen bonds from an adjacent complex mol-ecule.

Project description:The title compound, [PdCl2(C4H4N2)2], contains two crystallographically unique complexes; the Pd(II) atom lies on an inversion center in both cases. The two pyridazine units bonded to the Pd(II) atom are thus coplanar although dihedral angles within each complex are different. In one complex, the angle between the ring plane and Pd-Cl bond is almost perpendicular [89.4?(1)°], while the other is tilted with an angle of 60.0?(1)°. In the crystal, weak C?H-N hydrogen bonds and C?H-Cl inter-actions connect the two independent complex mol-ecules.
