[4,4'-(Ethane-1,2-diyldinitrilo)-bis-(pent-2-en-2-olato)]copper(II) 0.25-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(C(12)H(18)N(2)O(2))]·0.25H(2)O, the coordination of the O,N,N',O'-tetra-dentate ligand results in a cis-CuN(2)O(2) square-planar geometry for the metal ion and the presence of two six-membered and one five-membered chelate rings. The complete complex mol-ecule is close to planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.047?Å). The uncoordinated water mol-ecule (O-atom site symmetry 2) was modelled as half occupied. In the crystal, C-H?O(w) and O(w)-H?O (w = water) hydrogen bonds link the components into layers parallel to ab plane.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ni(C(20)H(22)N(2)O(4))]·0.5H(2)O, the Ni(II) ion is in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry involving an N(2)O(2) atom set of the tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand. The asymmetric unit contains one mol-ecule of the complex and half a water solvent mol-ecule. The solvent water mol-ecule lies on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. An inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond forms an R(2) (1)(4) ring motif involving a bifurcated hydrogen bond to the phenolate O atoms of the complex. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by π-π stacking inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.5310 (11)-3.7905 (12) Å, forming extended chains along the b axis. In addition, there are Ni⋯Ni and Ni⋯N inter-actions [3.4404 (4)-4.1588 (4) and 3.383 (2)-3.756 (2) Å, respectively] which are shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of the relevant atoms. Further stabilization of the crystal structure is attained by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(11)H(11)BrNO)(2)], the Cu(II) atom is in a distorted square-planar geometry, with the two bidentate ketimine ligands positioned in a trans geometry. Two inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond inter-actions are present which link the mol-ecules in a zigzag manner along the a axis. The mol-ecules pack in layers along the diagonal of the bc plane.

Project description:A new tetra-dentate chiral Schiff base ligand, C(16)H(26)N(2)O(2), has been synthesized by the reaction of acetyl-acetone with (1R,2R)-(-)-1,2-diamino-cyclo-hexane. Both of the mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit are of the same chirality (R configuration), since the absolute configuration was determined by the starting reagent (1R,2R)-(-)-1,2-diamino-cyclo-hexane. The six-membered cyclo-hexane ring is in a chair conformation, and the substituents are equatorial in the most stable conformation (trans-cyclo-hexyl). At the ring substituents, large conjugated -C=N-CH=C-OH systems exist, resulting from the original ketone converted into the enol form. With H atoms excluded, the atoms of each substituent lie in the same plane. The two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit have almost the same structure, with slight differences in the torsion angles between the substituents and the cyclo-hexane ring; the corresponding N(1)-(C-C-C)(cyclo-hexa-ne) torsion angles are -177.2 (3) and 179.3 (4)° in one mol-ecule and -176.5 (3) and 178.4 (4)° in the other. Two intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds exist in each mol-ecule.

Project description:The title compound, (C(16)H(36)N)(2)[Cd(C(5)O(3)S(2))(2)]·0.25H(2)O, contains two disordered tetra-butyl-ammonium cations, a complex [Cd(C(5)O(3)S(2))(2)](2-) anion and a 0.25-hydrate water. The anion is composed of a bidentate coordinated 3,4,5-trioxocyclo-pent-1-ene-1,2-dithiol-ate (dtcroc) group forming a distorted tetra-hedral configuration around the Cd(II) ion. The dihedral angle between the least-squares planes of the ten-atom sulfur-substituted croconate groups in the anion is 84.10?(8)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak C-H?O and C-H?S cation-anion hydrogen-bond inter-actions. In each of the two cations one butyl group is disordered over two positions in the ratios 0.589?(11):0.411?(11) and 0.796?(12):0.204?(12).

The asymmetric unit contains one mol-ecule of the complex and one mol-ecule each of chloro-form and methanol. The methanol mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to the phenolate O atoms. In the crystal structure, short inter-molecular distances between the centroids of six-membered chelate rings [3.7002?(9)?Å] indicate the presence of ?-? inter-actions, which link the mol-ecules into stacks along the a axis. In addition, there are Ni?Ni distances which are shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of two Ni atoms. The crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds, and weak inter-molecular C-H?? inter-actions linking mol-ecules into extended one-dimensional chains along the c axis.

Project description:The title compound, C(20)H(22)O(6), was obtained by the reaction of ethyl 4-hy-droxy-benzoate with 1,2-dichloro-ethane in dimethyl-formamide. The mol-ecule lies around the crystallographic inversion center at (0,0,0), with the asymmetric unit consisting of one half of the mol-ecule. The two ethyl groups are in trans positions. The ethyl, carboxyl, aryl and O-CH(2) groups are coplanar with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0208 (9) Å. The whole mol-ecule is planar with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0238 (9) Å for the 19 atoms used in the calculation and 0.0071 (9) Å for the two aryl groups in the mol-ecule. A weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bond and a C-H⋯π inter-action help to consolidate the three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(C(18)H(16)Br(2)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)], lies on a crystallographic mirror plane with the Cu(II) ion coordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms of a tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand and one O atom from a water ligand in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal environment. The mirror plane, which coincides with the Cu-O(water) bond, imposes disorder of the atoms of the ethyl-ene group. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link complex mol-ecules into extended chains along [100].

Project description:The title salt, [K(2)(C(16)H(12)O(6))](n), was obtained by the reaction of 1,2-bis-[4-(ethyl-carbox-yl)-phenox-yl]ethane with KOH in water. The anion lies on a crystallographic inversion center, which is located at the mid-point of the central C-C bond. The K(+) cation is coordinated by six O atoms, two from the chelating carboxyl-ate group of the anion and four from four neighboring and monodentately binding anions, giving rise to an irregular [KO(6)] coordination polyhedron. The coordination mode of the cation leads to the formation of K/O layers parallel to (100). These layers are linked by the nearly coplanar anions (r.m.s. deviation of 0.064?Å of the carboxyl, aryl and O-CH(2) groups from the least-squares plane) into a three-dimentional network.
