ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(11)H(13)N(3)O, is a derivative of the anti-tuberculosis drug isoniazid [systematic name: pyridine-4-carbohydrazide]. The crystal structure consists of repeating hydrogen-bonded chains parallel to the b axis. Adjacent mol-ecules in the chains are linked by bifurcated N-H?(O,N) hydrogen bonds, which form an R(1) (2)(5) ring motif.

Project description:The title compound, C(11)H(12)N(4)O(4), was synthesized by the reaction of (2,4-dinitro-phen-yl)hydrazine with cyclo-penta-none. The cyclo-pentyl fragment is disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.63?(1) and 0.37?(1). An intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond helps to establish the conformation. Pairs of mol-ecules are held together by ?-? inter-actions between adjacent benzene rings [centroid-to-centroid distance 3.589?(2)?Å].

Project description:The sample of the title compound, C12H15N3S, chosen for study consisted of triclinic crystals twinned by a 180° rotation about the a axis. The five-membered ring adopts a twisted conformation. The dihedral angle between the phenyl ring and the mean plane of the thio-urea unit is 78.22 (8)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked via pairs of N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds forming inversion dimers.
