ABSTRACT: The title complex, [CdCl(2)(C(9)H(12)N(4))](n), is characterized by the formation of a zigzag chain structure parallel to [001]. In the chain, the Cd(2+) cation is coordinated by four bridging Cl(-) ligands in equatorial positions and two N atoms from symmetry-related and likewise bridging 1,3-bis-(imidazol-1-yl)propane ligands in axial positions, forming a distorted CdCl(4)N(2) octa-hedron.

The complex mol-ecule lies about a crystallographic inversion centre. The Zn(II) atom exhibits a distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometry defined by two imidazole N atoms and two Cl atoms. O-H?Cl hydrogen bonding between the lattice water mol-ecules and the terminal Cl atoms of the mol-ecule lead to a two-dimensional structure extending parallel to (100).

Project description:The title compound, {(C(13)H(22)N(4))[Ag(2)I(4)]}(n), was prepared by reaction of 1,3-bis-(N-ethyl-imidazolium-1-yl)propane iodide with silver (I) oxide. In the 3,3'-diethyl-1,1'-(propane-1,3-di-yl)di(1H-imidazol-3-ium) cation, the dihedral angle between the imidazole rings is 49.3?(1)°. In the [Ag(2)I(4)](2-) anion, each Ag(I) atom is bonded to three iodide anions, the two Ag(I) atoms and two of the iodides forming Ag(2)I(2) square-planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.01?Å) units·The remaining two iodides, which are placed on opposite sides of the square, together with their centrosymmetric counterparts, link the square-planar Ag(2)I(2) units into {[Ag(2)I(4)](2-)}(n) polymeric chains via Ag-I bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CdCl(2)(C(8)H(6)N(2)O)(2)](n), consists of one mol-ecule of the 3H-quinazolin-4-one ligand, one Cd(2+) cation, which is located on a twofold axis, and one chlorido ligand in a general position. The latter bridges metal cations, forming a one-dimensional polymer along the b axis. The Cd?Cd distance along the chain is 3.7309?(7)?Å. The octa-hedral coordination around the metal is completed by two ligands in a trans axial geometry which coordinate through the N atom in 1 position. Adjacent Cd(II) cations are inter-connected alternately by pairs of chloride bridges, generating an infinite step-like chain along the a axis. One ethyl group of the 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligand is disordered over two sets of sites with a 0.668?(13):0.332?(13) site-occupancy ratio.

Project description:The title coordination polymer, {[Cd(C8H4O4)(C14H14N4)]·C3H7NO} n , was synthesized by solvothermal reaction of metallic cadmium with the semi-rigid neutral ligand 1,4-bis-[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]benzene (bix) and the V-shaped benzene-1,3-di-carb-oxy-lic acid (m-H2bdc). The structure exhibits a pseudo-C-centring which is almost fulfilled by the polymeric metal complex but not by the solvent dimethylform-amide (DMF) mol-ecules. The asymmetric unit contains two independent Cd(II) ions, two m-bdc(2-) ligands, one and two half bix ligands, and two solvent DMF mol-ecules. The Cd(II) ions are both five-coordinated by three O atoms from two different m-bdc(2-) ligands and two N atoms from two different bix ligands in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The m-bdc(2-) ligands adopt a chelate-monodentate coordination mode, connecting neighboring Cd(II) ions into a zigzag chain parallel to [110]. Adjacent chains are further cross-linked by bix ligands, giving rise to a puckered sheet nearly perpendicular to the chain direction. Thus, each Cd(II) ion is connected to four neighboring Cd(II) ions through two m-bdc(2-) anions and two bix ligands, giving rise to the final non-inter-penetrating uninodal layer with sql (4,4) topology.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the polymeric title compound, {(C21H19N2)[HgCl3]} n , comprises one-half of the cationic mol-ecule, the other half being generated by application of twofold rotation symmetry, one Hg and two Cl atoms. The Hg(II) atom, lying on a twofold rotation axis, exhibits a distorted triangular coordination environment and is surrounded by three Cl atoms with Hg-Cl distances in the range 2.359?(2)-2.4754?(13)?Å. Two additional longer distances [Hg?Cl = 3.104?(14)?Å] lead to the formation of polymeric [HgCl1/1Cl4/2](-) chains extending along [001]. The crystal packing can be described by cationic layers alternating parallel to (-110) with the anionic chains located between the layers. The packing is consolidated by ?-? stacking inter-actions between the benzene rings of the central benzimidazole entities, with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.643?(3)?Å.
