N-Methyl-4-nitro-anilinium chloride.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C(7)H(9)N(2)O(2) (+)·Cl(-), contains two independent cations and anions. In the crystal, each N-methyl-4-nitro-anilinium cation is linked to two Cl(-) anions via N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. ?-? stacking is observed between the benzene rings of adjacent cations [centroid-to-centroid distances = 3.7684?(14) and 3.7917?(7)?Å].

Project description:The cation of the title compound, C(14)H(15)N(2)O(2) (+)·Cl(-), comprises two almost ideally planar systems, 3-nitro-phenyl (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0117 Å) and 4-methyl-phenyl (r.m.s. deviation = 0.238 Å), separated by the central C-N bond, and with their mean planes inclined to one another by 61.36 (5)°. In the crystal, hydrogen-bonded chains running along [001] are generated by connecting neighbouring mol-ecules via N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and consolidated by C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O inter-actions. Within these chains, fused R(2) (1)(6) and R(3) (2)(10) ring motifs are formed. Parallel chains are further linked into a two-dimensional network parallel to (100) via C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(6)H(7)N(2)O(2) (+)·Cl(-), contains two independent ion pairs. A monoclinic form of the title compound with only one ion pair in the asymmetric unit has been reported previously [Ploug-Sørensen & Andersen (1986). Acta Cryst. C42, 1813-1815]. In the crystal of the title compound, the components are linked into layers parallel to (001) by inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, with alternating hydro-philic and hydro-phobic regions.

Project description:The title compound, (C(7)H(9)N(2)O(2))(2)[HgCl(4)], self-assembles into cationic organic bilayers containing the 2-methyl-4-nitro-anilinium cations, sandwiched between anionic inorganic layers built up by the distorted tetra-hedral [HgCl(4)](2-) groups. The organic sheets are inter-linked through weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, while they inter-act with the anionic part via strong charge-assisted N(+)-H⋯Cl-Hg hydrogen bonds. The [HgCl(4)](2-) anions are bis-ected by a mirror plane passing through the metal and two of the chloride ions.

Project description:The title salt, C4H6N3O2 +·Cl-, exhibits multiple hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the nitro-imidazolium cation and the chloride anion. Strong hydrogen bonds between the amine hydrogen atom and the chloride anion link the ionic moieties. Of note, with respect to H⋯Cl inter-actions, the central aromatic hydrogen atom displays a shorter inter-action than the other aromatic hydrogen atom. Finally, inter-actions are observed between the nitro moiety and methyl H atoms. While no π-π stacking is observed, anion-π inter-actions are present. The crystal was refined as a two-component twin.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C(14)H(15)N(2)O(4) (+)·Cl(-), can be described as being composed of layers containing both cations and anions that are staggered along [010]. Two types of the hydrogen bonds are observed, viz. cation-anion and cation-cation. The chloride anions are acceptors of the strong hydrogen bonds donated by the secondary amine and the hy-droxy groups. The packing is also stabilized by weak C-H?O inter-molecular hydrogen bonds. An intra-molecular N-H?O inter-action also occurs.

Project description:The title compound, C(6)H(7)N(2)O(2) (+)·Br(-), is isomorphous with 2-nitro-anilinium chloride and contains an characteristic intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond, forming an S(6) motif. Inter-molecular N-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds occur in the crystal structure. Two zigzag chains of C(2) (1)(4) motifs extend along the b-axis direction. These primary chain motifs inter-sect like a double helix structure, leading to R(6) (3)(12) ring motifs, which are arranged in tandem along the b axis. Hence, hydro-philic layers are generated at z = 1/4 and 3/4, which are sandwiched between alternate hydro-phobic layers across z = 0 and 1/2.
