ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(51)H(78)INO(12), contains a 29-membered ring incorporating amide, lactone and ester groups. It contains a total of 15 stereogenic centres. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming C(8) chains propagating in [100]. A weak intra-molecular O-H?O inter-action also occurs.

The macrocyclic ring structure has 15 chiral centres, with one of the substituent hy-droxy groups giving an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to a ketone O-atom acceptor. The mol-ecules also form inter-molecular hy-droxy-ketone O-H?O hydrogen-bonding associations, giving one-dimensional chains extending along (010). The crystal has 108?Å(3) solvent-accessible voids.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(19)IO(5), is the ortho-rhom-bic polymorph of a previously reported monoclinic form [Krajewski et al. (1987 ?). Bull. Pol. Acad. Sci. Chem.35, 91-102]. The dihedral angles between the six-membered ring and the two five-membered rings are 67.66?(14) and 71.79?(13)°, whereas the dihedral angle between the five-membered rings is 74.41?(12)°, indicating that all three rings are twisted from each other. The six-membered ring has a twist-boat conformation while both of the five-membered rings have envelope conformations. The crystal structure is stabilized by a network of C-H?O contacts linking the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional array parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:In the title compound, C(12)H(11)IO(4), the C and O atoms of both meth-oxy groups lie very close to the mean plane of the six C atoms of the benzene ring. The O and C atoms of the group lying closest to the I atom are 0.012 (3) and 0.022 (4) Å, respectively, out of the mean plane. For the other meth-oxy group, the corresponding distances are 0.020 (3) and 0.078 (4) Å. In the crystal, there are only very weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and O⋯I contacts [3.080 (2) Å]. The mol-ecules are approximately parallel to (100), forming a layered structure.
