ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Ag(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2)O(4))(C(14)H(14)N(4))](n), one Ag(I) ion, lying on a twofold rotation axis, is coordinated by two N atoms from two 3,5,9,11-tetra-oxo-4,10-diaza-tetra-cyclo-[5.5.2.0(2,6).0(8,12)]tetra-dec-13-ene-4,10-diide (L) ligands in a nearly linear arrangement. The other Ag(I) ion, lying on an inversion center, is coordinated by two O atoms from two L ligands and two N atoms from two 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene ligands in a distorted square-planar geometry. An additional Ag?Ag [3.0119?(3)?Å] inter-action links the Ag(I) ions into a chain along [010]. The two types of ligands have mirror symmetry and connect the Ag(I) ions into a layer parallel to (100).

Project description:In the title compound, C(19)H(20)N(2)O(6), the pyrone and pyran rings adopt envelope conformations with the same common C atom as the flap, the dihedral angle between the planes of the remaining ring atoms being 68.27 (4)°. The planar atoms of the pyran ring and the diaza-cyclic ring are almost coplanar, the dihedral angle between their mean planes being 3.29 (7)°. Moreover, the planar atoms of the pyrone ring and benzene ring of the coumarin unit are also close to coplanar, the dihedral angle between their mean planes being 8.03 (9)°. The meth-oxy group lies in the plane of the benzene ring, with a dihedral angle between their mean planes of 9.4 (2)°. In the crystal, the molecules are linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds resulting in sheets of mol-ecules in the ac plane.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ag(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))(2)](C(6)H(4)Cl(2)NO(3)S)(2)·4H(2)O, contains one-half of each of two independent dicationic units, two 4-amino-2,5-dichloro-benzene-sulfonate anions and four water mol-ecules. Each centrosymmetric dicationic unit has a dinuclear structure in which two Ag(I) atoms are bridged by two 1,2-bis-(1H-imidazol-1-yl-meth-yl)benzene ligands in a slightly distorted linear coordination geometry. The 4-amino-2,5-dichloro-benzene-sulfonate anion does not coordinate with the Ag(I) center, acting only as a counteranion. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form a three-dimensional network.

It is octahedrally coordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms of the crown moiety from one ligand and two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two bridging intra-chain ligands. Metallomacrocyclic rings are identified in the structure. The metallomacrocycle contains two Zn(II) ions and 14 atoms from the bridging ligands. Repetition of these units gives rise to an infinite zigzag chain along [101]. C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds occur.

Recrystallization of the resulting powder from p-xylene gave the title hemisolvate; the p-xylene mol-ecule is located about an inversion center. In the crystal, the primary tetrone contacts are between a carbonyl O atom and the four flagpole H atoms of the bi-cyclo-[2.2.2]octene core, forming chains along [001].
