ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [VClO(C(12)H(12)N(2))(2)]Cl·C(2)H(5)OH·H(2)O, the V(IV) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four N atoms from two 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligands, one O atom and one Cl atom. In the crystal, O-H?Cl, C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and ?-? contacts between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7236?(17) and 3.6026?(19)?Å] stabilize the structure. Intra-molecular C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds are also present.

Project description:In the title compound, [V(C(7)H(3)NO(4))O(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·C(2)H(5)OH, the V(IV) atom exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by two pyridyl N atoms of 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), the vanadyl O atom, and two carboxyl-ate O atoms and one pyridyl N atom of the tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate (pydc(2-)) ligand. The pyridyl N atom of the pydc(2-) anion and one pyridyl N atom of bpy occupy the axial positions. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the ethanol solvent mol-ecule as donor and a carboxyl-ate O atom as acceptor atoms, as well as C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, together with π-π stacking inter-actions between adjacent aromatic rings (average centroid-centroid distance = 3.577 Å), seem to be effective in the stabilization of the crystal packing, resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [RuCl(C(15)H(11)N(3))(C(12)H(8)N(2)O(4))]ClO(4)·C(2)H(5)OH·H(2)O, the geometry of the ClN(5) coordination set around the Ru(II) atom is close to octa-hedral, but distorted on account of the limited bite angles of the polypyridyl ligands. The complexes are linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the carboxyl groups and the crystal lattice water mol-ecules into chains along [110]. Face-to-face stacking inter-actions are formed between terpyridine ligands, with inter-planar separations of 3.66?(1) and 3.42?(1)?Å, and between bipyridine-4,4'-dicarb-oxy-lic acid ligands, with inter-planar separations of 3.65?(1) and 3.72?(1)?Å. Three O atoms of the perchlorate ion are each disordered equally over two positions. The hy-droxy group of the ethanol mol-ecule is also disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.794?(9) and 0.206?(9).

Project description:In the structure of the title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(5)O(2))(OH)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(C(7)H(6)O(2))]·H(2)O, the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry with one O atom of a hydroxide group, one O atom of a benzoate anion and two N atoms of a 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and one O atom of a benzoic acid mol-ecule located at the apical site. The title complex was refined with a metal-coordinated OH group and a 'free' benzoic acid molecule, although it can be assumed that the proton is delocalized between the OH and the COOH group. The uncoordinated water mol-ecule is equally disordered over two positions. The structure displays O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title complex, [Cd(C(2)HN(9))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(10)H(8)N(2)·H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal reaction conditions. The asymmetric unit contains the cadmium complex, half a 2,2'-bipyridine solvent mol-ecule and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from an HBTA(-) anion ligand [where H(2)BTA is N,N-bis-(1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)amine], forming an octa-hedral geometry. The complex is linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H⋯N and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and by the stacking inter-actions of rings, with distances of 3.5-3.7 Å between the atoms of two parallel 2,2'-bipyridine rings.
