ABSTRACT: In the title complex, {[Ni(2)(C(14)H(4)N(2)O(8))(H(2)O)(6)]·2H(2)O}(n), the two Ni(II) atoms are located in different special positions (one on a twofold rotation axis and the second on a centre of symmetry) and have different distorted octa-hedral environments (one by two N atoms from a bipyridine unit, two O atoms from two water mol-ecules and two O atoms from two carboxyl-ate groups, and the second by four O atoms from four water mol-ecules and two O atoms from two carboxyl-ate groups). Thus, the environments of the Ni(II) atoms may be denoted as NiN(2)O(4) and NiO(6). In the crystal, there exists an extensive network of classical O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Cu(C(6)H(2)O(5))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·2H(2)O}(n), an infinite chain parallel to [110] is formed by the linking of Cu(H(2)O)(2,2'-bipyridine) units through a furan-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate bridge. The Cu(II) atom shows a square-pyramidal geometry, with one furan-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate O atom in the apical position. The dihedral angle between the planes of the furan ring and the bipyridine mol-ecule is 83.88 (7)°. O(water)-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect adjacent chains, generating a layer motif parallel to (001).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[MgNa₂(C₁₀H₄O₈)₂(H₂O)₈]·2H₂O}(n), contains one octa-hedrally coordin-ated Mg(II) atom (site symmetry 2/m), one octahedrally coordinated Na(I) atom (site symmetry 2) and one half of the dihydrogen benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate (btec) ligand, the second half of the ligand being generated by a twofold rotation axis. The basic framework of the title compound features infinite (-Na-Na-Mg-)(n) chains along [10-1] with the metal cations bridged by the coordinating water molecules. The chains are isolated from each other by μ₄-bridging btec ligands, which form inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to uncoordinated water mol-ecules and the coordinated water mol-ecules of a neighbouring chain. In each btec ligand, there are also intramolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C5H3N2O2)2(H2O)2]·2H2O, contains a Co(II) ion on an inversion center, exhibiting an octa-hedral coordination geometry. The equatorial plane is formed by two trans-related N,O-bidentate pyridazine-3-carboxyl-ate ligands and the axial positions are occupied by two water mol-ecules. The Co(II) complex mol-ecules are stacked in a column along the a-axis direction by an O-H⋯N hydrogen bond between the non-coordinating pyridazine N atom and the coordinating water mol-ecule. A twofold inter-penetrated primitive cubic supra-molecular network is formed by the inter-action of pseudo-layers by hydrogen bonding between aqua ligands and unligated 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mn3(C12H6O12)(H2O)6] n , comprises one Mn(II) ion, one third of a cyclo-hexane-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexa-carboxyl-ate anion and two aqua ligands. The anion is completed by application of a -3 axis. The Mn(II) ion is six-coordinated by six O atoms from two aqua ligands and three different cyclo-hexa-carboxyl-ate anions in an octa-hedral geometry. The six carboxyl-ate groups adopt a bridging bidentate mode to ligate the Mn(II) ions. Thus, each cyclo-hexane-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexa-carboxyl-ate anion adopts a μ9-connected mode, ligating nine different Mn(II) ions and forming a three-dimensional framework. In the framework, there are strong O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, which further stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The reaction of 2-hy-droxy-1,4-naphtho-quinone and 4,4'-bipyridine with zinc acetate produced the title compound, [Zn(C(10)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·C(10)H(8)N(2)·2H(2)O. The bond lengths and angles around the metal atom indicate a deviation from octa-hedral geometry. The two naphtho-quinone ligands coordinate in a cis fashion, with the 4,4'-bipyridine ligand and the water mol-ecules completing the coordination sphere of the metal atom. The asymmetric unit contains also one free 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule and two uncoordinated water mol-ecules. These mol-ecules make contacts with the complex through O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, creating a layer two-dimensional network parallel to (121).
