ABSTRACT: The title compound C(18)H(16)N(2)S(2), crystallizes with two independent half-mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, in one of which the thio-phene rings are disordered in a 0.67:0.33 ratio. Each independent mol-ecule lies across a crystallographic centre of symmetry. The dihedral angle between central (half) benzene ring and the thiophene ring is 11.82°.

Project description:In the crystal of the centrosymmetric title compound, C(20)H(20)N(2)S(2), mol-ecules are linked by head-to-tail C-H?N hydrogen bonds, resulting in chains extending along the a axis. Three additional C-H?? inter-molecular inter-actions give rise to a herringbone packing motif which extends along the c axis. The C-H?N inter-actions provide links between the sheets.

In the crystal packing, mol-ecules are linked into R(2) (2)(12) dimers and R(2) (2)(14) rings via C-H⋯O inter-molecular hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title Schiff base, C(13)H(13)NO(2)S, adopts the phenol-imine tautomeric form and reveals an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond involving the hy-droxy group and the imino N atom, forming an S(6) ring. The mol-ecule is highly twisted with respect to the central imine group, which is reflected in the dihedral angle of 67.83 (10)° formed by the thienyl and phenol rings. The crystal packing is characterized by weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C22H20Br2N2S, was synthesized under solvent-free conditions. The mol-ecule shows crystallographic C 2 symmetry, with the S atom of the central thio-phene ring lying on a twofold rotation axis. Furthermore, as a consequence of the (S,S) stereochemistry, the mol-ecule has a twisted conformation. The dihedral angle between the thio-phene and benzene rings is 72.7 (2)° and that between the two benzene rings is 55.9 (2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are arranged in a chevron-like pattern, without any significant inter-molecular inter-actions.
