ABSTRACT: As a prelude to engineering artificial energy conversion proteins emulating biology, we examine the inclusion of a synthetic naphthoquinone amino acid in a characterized host-guest protein and determine the effects of its quinone and hydroquinone forms on the helix-coil distribution.
