ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric tetra-nuclear title mol-ecule, [Sn(4)(C(6)H(5))(8)Cl(2)O(2)(OH)(2)]·2C(2)H(6)OS, the two independent tin(IV) atoms show distorted trigonal-bipyramidal SnC(2)O(3) and SnC(2)O(2)Cl coordination geometries. The four tin(IV) atoms are bridged by the hydroxo and oxo ligands, forming a ladder-like array of three edge-connected Sn(2)O(2) squares. The solvent mol-ecules are linked to the tetra-nuclear mol-ecule via O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Sn(4)(C(7)H(6)Cl)(8)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)O(2)(OH)(2)], comprises one-half of the centrosymmetric tin(IV) complex. ?(3)-Oxide and ?(2)-hydroxide bridges link the four five-coordinate Sn(IV) atoms to generate three fused four-membered Sn-O-Sn-O rings in a ladder-like structure. The two endocyclic Sn atoms each bind to two ?(3)-oxide anions and a ?(2)-hydroxide ligand, together with two 2-chloro-benzyl groups. The exocyclic Sn atoms each carry a monodentate phenyl-acetate ligand, two 2-chloro-benzyl groups, and ?(3)-oxide and ?(2)-hydroxide ligands. Both types of Sn atoms adopt a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular O-H?O inter-actions involving the ?(2)-hydroxide ligands and the C=O group of the phenyl-acetate ligand.

Project description:The ladder-like structure of the tetranuclear title compound, [Sn(4)(C(6)H(5))(4)Cl(2)O(2)(OH)(2)(C(9)H(13)N)(2)(C(9)H(12)N)(2)]Cl(2)·10CDCl(3), consists of two five- and two six-coordinated Sn(IV) atoms bridged by oxide or hydroxide groups. The chelating ligands reveal rather strong Sn-N bonds [2.517?(4)?Å], but the protonated dimethylamino groups in the periphery of the complex show no interaction with the metal atoms. The complex cation is located on an inversion centre. The chloride anion is linked to the complex mol-ecule by strong intra-molecular O-H?Cl and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Five independent deuterochloroform accompany the complex, two of them are disordered [occupancy ratios 0.63?(2):0.27?(2) and 0.60?(2):0.40?(2)].

One Cl atom of a chloro-benzyl ligand is disordered over two sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.693?(2):0.307?(2).

Project description:The title complex, [Ce(C(2)H(6)OS)(8)](2)[Mo(6)O(19)](3)·4C(2)H(6)OS, was obtained as a byproduct of the reaction of [(C(4)H(9))(4)N](2)[Mo(6)O(19)] with Ce(NO(3))(3)·6H(2)O and phthalic acid in dimethyl-sulfoxide solution. The asymmetric unit consists of a complex [Ce(C(2)H(6)OS)(8)](3+) cation, one and a half of the Lindqvist-type [Mo(6)O(19)](2-) polyanions and two dimethyl-sulfoxide solvent mol-ecules; the half polyanion lies on an inversion center. The Ce(3+) ion is coordinated by eight dimethyl-sulfoxide ligands through the O atoms in the form of a distorted square antiprism. The Ce-O bond lengths range from 2.429?(6) to 2.550?(5)?Å. The cohesion of the structure is ensured by S?O [3.115?(6), 3.242?(10) and 3.12?(3)?Å], O?O [3.037?(10)?Å] and C-H?O inter-actions between cations and anions. The S and C atoms of a dmso ligand are disordered over three sites in a 0.45:0.30:0.25 ratio. The dimethyl-sulfoxide solvent mol-ecules are highly disordered and could not be modelled successfully; their contribution was therefore removed from the refinement using the SQUEEZE routine in PLATON [Spek (2009 ?). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155]. Potential solvent-accessible voids of 500.0?Å(3) occur in the crystal structure.

The Sn(4)O(4) framework, whose two independent Sn atoms show trigonal bipyramidal coordination, is essentially planar (r.m.s deviation = 0.02?Å). One of the two chloro-benzyl groups of the chloridodiorganyltin unit is disordered over two positions with the chloro-phenyl residue refined over two positions in a 50:50 ratio. The solvent mol-ecule is disordered about a twofold axis.

Project description:The six-coordinate Sn(IV) atom in the title compound, [SnCl(4)(C(14)H(14)OS)(2)], exists in a cis-SnCl(4)O(2) octa-hedral geometry. Of the four Cl atoms, two are close to adjacent S atoms [Cl?S = 3.320?(1) and 3.376?(1)?Å]; the Sn-Cl bonds involving these two Cl atoms are longer than the other two Sn-Cl bonds.
