ABSTRACT: In the title compound, (C(5)H(7)N(2))(6)[V(10)O(28)]·2H(2)O, the [V(10)O(28)](6-) anion is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry and each of the five vanadium centres adopts a distorted VO(6) octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, a network of N-H?O, N-H?(O,O) and O-H?O hydrogen bonds helps to establish the packing.

Each of the V(V) atoms adopts a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Eight terminal O atoms are bonded to V(V) atoms with double bonds and the others act as bridging atoms. In the crystal structure, a network of N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds helps to establish the packing.

Project description:The title compound, (C4H12N5)4(C2H7N4O)2[V10O28]·4H2O, is a by-product obtained by reacting ammonium metavanadate(V), metformin hydro-chloride and acetic acid in the presence of sodium hypochlorite, at pH = 5. The crystal structure comprises a deca-vanadate(V) anion (V10O28)6- lying on an inversion centre in space group P , while cations and solvent water mol-ecules are placed in general positions, surrounding the anion, and forming numerous N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Metforminium (C4H12N5)+ and guanylurea (C2H7N4O)+ cations display the expected shape. Inter-estingly, in physiology the latter cation is known to be the main metabolite of the former one. The reported structure thus supports the role of sodium hypochlorite as an oxidizing reagent being able to degrade metformin hydro-chloride to form guanylurea.

Project description:The title compound, (NH4)4(C4H12N5)2[V10O28]·6H2O, crystallizes with the deca-vanadate anion placed on an inversion centre in space group P . This anion is surrounded by a first shell of ammonium cations and water mol-ecules, forming efficient N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. A second shell includes metforminium monocations with a twisted geometry, also forming numerous inter-molecular hydrogen bonds. The complex three-dimensional network of non-covalent inter-actions affords a crystal structure in which the cations and anions are densely packed.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)](2)[SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)]·6H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit consists of a transition metal complex [Co(en)(3)](3+) cation (en is ethyl-enediamine), one half of an [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion, two solvent water mol-ecules in general positions and two half-mol-ecules of water located on a mirror plane. In the complex cation, the Co(3+) ion is in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by six N atoms of the three chelating en ligands. One of the en ligands exhibits disorder of its aliphatic chain over two sets of sites of equal occupancy. The [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion is a four-electron reduced bivanadyl-capped ?-Keggin-type molybdenum-vanadium-oxide cluster. In the crystal, it is located on a mirror plane, which results in disorder of the central tetra-hedral SiO(4) group: the O atoms of this group occupy two sets of sites related by a mirror plane. Furthermore, all of the eight ?(2)-oxide groups are also disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy. There are extensive inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the complex cations and inorganic polyoxidoanions, leading to a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C7H10N)4[H2V10O28]·2H2O, was solved from a non-merohedrally twinned crystal (ratio of twin components ?0.6:0.4). The asymmetric unit consists of one-half deca-vanadate anion (the other half completed by inversion symmetry), two 2,6-di-methyl-pyridinium cations and one water mol-ecule of crystallization. In the crystal, the components are connected by strong N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a supra-molecular chain along the b-axis direction. There are weak C-H?O inter-actions between the chains.

Project description:The title compound, {[Na(H(2)O)(4)](6)[V(10)O(28)]·2H(2)O}(n), crystallized from a H(2)O/THF/CH(3)CN solution (pH ca 6) containing equimolar amounts of NaVO(3) and N-(2-hydroxy-benz-yl)-N-(2-picol-yl)glycine. In the crystal structure, the deca-vanadate [V(10)O(28)](6-) anion ( symmetry) is coordinated, via four terminal oxide ligands of V centres, to two dinuclear [{Na(H(2)O)(3)}(2)(?-H(2)O)(2)](2+) units. Inter-connection of these aquasodium-ion-sandwiched deca-vanadates to chains parallel to [001] is effected by ?-[{Na(H(2)O)(3)}(2)(?-H(2)O)(2)](2+) units, bridging adjacent deca-vanadates via O=V. The structure is consolidated by an extensive network of O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title salt, (C(5)H(6)N)(4)[Mo(2)Cl(2)O(5)(SO(4))(2)], comprises four pyridinium cations for each [(MoClO(2))(2)(?-O)(?-SO(4))(2)](4-) anionic unit. The asymmetric unit consists of three aggregates of the empirical formula. The tetra-anionic bimetallic molybdenum(VI) cluster is unprecedented and contains two sulfate and one oxide bridges. This structure constitutes the first example of a non-polymeric compound with terminal oxide, sulfate and halide ligands bonded to the same metal. The hydrogen bonds connecting the pyridinium cations to the molybdenum clusters are diverse, varying from strong and directional interactions to bifurcated bonds with a subsequent loss of directionality.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)V(4)O(12)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), shows a two-dimensional copper-vanadate layer composed of eight-membered rings, each containing four corner-sharing VO(4) tetra-hedra; these are linked through six penta-coordinated Cu(II) atoms with the 2,2'-bipyridine ligands attached and pointing above and below the plane of the layer. The Cu atom is coordinated by two N donors from the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and three O atoms from three adjacent VO(4) units to form a distorted tetragonal pyramid. These layers are further connected by ?-? inter-actions between inter-leaving bipyridine ligands of adjacent layers [centroid-centroid distances = 3.63?(1) and 3.68?(1)?Å] into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

These aggregate into the three-dimensional structure via N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding mechanisms imparted by 4,4'-imino-dipyridinium dications situated between the layers.

The two independent tin atoms show distorted trigonal-bipyramidal SnC(2)O(3) and SnC(2)O(2)Br coordination geometries.
