ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Sn(2)Cl(6)(OH)(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2C(4)H(10)O, consists of a centrosymmetric molecule and two additional solvent molecules and has an infinite two-dimensional network extending parallel to (101). The Sn atom is six-coordinate with a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Additional O-H?O hydrogen bonding leads to stabilization of the crystal structure.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Sn(2)Br(1.97)Cl(4.03)(OH)(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2C(3)H(6)O, contains two hexa-coordinated Sn atoms bridged symmetrically by two hydroxide groups, with an inversion center in the middle of the planar Sn(2)O(2) ring, half of the mol-ecule being generated by inversion symmetry. The other sites of the distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry are occupied by halide atoms and water mol-ecules. The structure exhibits substitutional disorder of the halide atoms bonded to the Sn atom, with 0.672?(4) occupancy for Cl and 0.328?(4) for Br for each halide position. The compound crystallizes with two acetone mol-ecules, which are involved in intra- and inter-molecular O-H?O contacts. The water mol-ecules coordinated to the Sn atoms are also involved in O-H?O and O-H?X contacts, leading to a polymeric array along the a axis.

Project description:The title complex, [Ti2Cl4{CH3C(CH2O)2(CH2OH)}2], lies across a centre of symmetry with a diethyl ether solvent mol-ecule hydrogen bonded to the -CH2OH groups on either side of it. The Ti(IV) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by a tripodal ligand and two terminal chloride atoms. There are three coordination modes for the tripodal ligand distinguishable on the basis of their very different Ti-O bond lengths. For the terminal alkoxo ligand, the Ti-O distance is 1.760?(1)?Å, the asymmetric bridge system has Ti-O bond lengths of 1.911?(1) and 2.048?(1)?Å. The Ti-O bond length for the alcohol O atom is the longest at 2.148?(1)?Å.

Project description:The title compounds, [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2(H2O)2][Sn(CH3)3(CHO2)2] (1) and [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2]Cl·H2O (2), are partially condensed products of hydrolysed tri-methyl-tin chloride. In the structures of 1 and 2, short cationic tris-tannatoxanes (C9H29O2Sn3) are bridged by a diformatotri-methyl-tin anion or a chloride anion, respectively. Hydrogen bridges are present and supposedly stabilize these structures against further polymerization to the known polymeric tri-methyl-tin hydroxide. Especially noteworthy is that the formate present in this structure was formed from atmospheric CO2.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title hydrate, 2[Sn(H(2)O)(2)(OH)(2)Br(6)]·7H(2)O, comprises two [Br(3)(H(2)O)Sn(?-OH)(2)SnBr(3)(OH(2))] units, but three independent mol-ecules as two of these are disposed about inversion centres, and seven water mol-ecules. In common with the monoclinic polymorph [Howie et al. (2005 ?). Inorg. Chim. Acta, 358, 3283-3286], each of the dinuclear species features a central Sn(2)O(2) core, distorted octa-hedral Sn atom geometries defined by a Br(3)O(3) donor set, and an anti-disposition of the coordinated water mol-ecules. In the crystal, O(h)-H?O(w), O(a)-H?O(w), O(w)-H?O(w), and O(w)-H?Br (h = hydroxyl, a = aqua, w = water) hydrogen-bonding inter-actions generate a three-dimensional network.
