ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(C22H24N2O4)]·H2O, the Cu(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted planar geometry with a mean deviation of 0.1164?(2)?Å for the plane generated by the ligating atoms of the salen-type Schiff base ligand. In the crystal, O(water)-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds form a three-dimensional-network.

Project description:In the title hydrate, C24H30N2O4·H2O, the organic mol-ecule adopts an E conformation with respect to the azomethine double bonds. The cyclo-hexane ring is in a chair conformation. The dihedral angle between benzene rings is 79.6 (2)°. Two intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are present. In the crystal, the components are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯π inter-actions, generating a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

The Cu(II) atom, water mol-ecule and one C atom of the central propyl-ene segment are located on a twofold rotation axis. The geometry around the Cu(II) atom is distorted square-planar, supported by the N(2)O(2) donor atoms of the coordinating ligand. The dihedral angle between the symmetry-related benzene rings is 42.56?(19)°. In the crystal, O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecule make an R(2) (1)(6) ring motif. Complex mol-ecules are linked into a chain along the c axis via C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(C(2)H(3)O(2))(H(2)O)]·2CH(3)OH, the Co(III) atom is hexa-coordinated by water and acetate groups in the axial positions and by the tetra-dentate Schiff base occupying equatorial positions. These axial bonds are longer than the equatorial bonds to the tetra-dentate Schiff base. Two mol-ecules form a dimer through strong hydrogen bonds from the coordinated water of one mol-ecule to the meth-oxy O atoms of an adjoining mol-ecule. There is extensive intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the coordinated water and acetate ligands and the methanol solvent mol-ecules. In addition, there are weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions, which link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional array.

The slightly distorted square-planar four-coordinate Cu(II) atom comprises two imine N atoms [Cu-N = 1.903?(4) and 1.912?(4)?Å] and two phenolate O atoms from the ligand mol-ecule [Cu-O = 1.897?(3) and 1.906?(3)?Å]. All atoms of the cyclo-hexane ring of the ligand mol-ecule are disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy.
