Bis(?-2-carb-oxy-methyl-2-hy-droxy-butane-dioato)bis-[diaqua-manganese(II)]-1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene-water (1/1/2).

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mn2(C6H6O7)2(H2O)4]·C12H10N2·2H2O, contains half of the centrosymmetric Mn complex dimer, half of a 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene mol-ecule, which lies across an inversion center, and one water mol-ecule. Two citrate ligands bridge two Mn(II) ions, and each Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four O atoms from the citrate ligands (one from hy-droxy and three from carboxyl-ate groups) and two water O atoms, forming a distorted octa-hedral environment. In the crystal, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds link the centrosymmetric dimers and lattice water mol-ecules into a three-dimensional structure which is further stabilized by inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.959?(2)?Å]. Weak C-H?O hydrogen bonding interactions are also observed.

Carboxyl-ate groups of two dianionic citrate ligands bridge two Zn(II) ions to give the cyclic dimer, with each Zn(II) ion coordinated by four O atoms from the chelating citrate ligand (one hy-droxy and three carboxyl-ate, with one bridging) and two water O atoms, forming a distorted octa-hedral environment [Zn-O = 2.040?(3)-2.244?(3)?Å]. In the crystal, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving hy-droxy groups and both coordinating and lattice water mol-ecules link the dimers to give a three-dimensional framework structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(C(7)H(2)F(3)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Mn(II) ion, situated on a centre of inversion, has a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry and is coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands, two O atoms from two 2,4,5-trifluoro-3-hy-droxy-benzoate ligands and two water mol-ecules. Inter-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a chain along the a axis. Inter-actions between neighboring chains occur through O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which link the chains into a two-dimensional supra-molecular network parallel to the ac plane. In addition, O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate groups also exist in the the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Zn(C(4)H(4)O(5))(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·2H(2)O}(n), the Zn(II) ion displays a distorted tetra-gonal-pyramidal coordination environment with one hy-droxy O and three carboxyl-ate O atoms from three malate anions, and the one remaining position occupied by an N atom from a 4,4'-bipyridine ligand. The pyridine rings of the 4,4'-bipyridine ligand are twisted with respect to each other by a dihedral angle of 35.8?(2)°. The uncoordinated water mol-ecules are linked to the complex mol-ecules by O-H?O hydrogen bonds. Each malate anion forms four coordination bonds with three Zn atoms, establishing a layer structure parallel to the ac plane. Adjacent layers are further linked via O-H?N hydrogen bonding. ?-? stacking between the pyridine rings [face-to-face distance = 3.651?(3)?Å] occurs in the crystal structure.

The Zn cation is N,N'-chelated by two 5-[(pyridin-2-yl)methyl-idene-amino]-2-hy-droxy-benzoate anions and coordinated by two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Within the anionic ligand, the pyridine ring is oriented at a dihedral angle of 49.54?(10)° with respect to the benzene ring. The carboxyl-ate group of the anionic ligand is not involved in coordination but is O-H?O hydrogen bonded to the coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. Weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonding is also present in the crystal structure.
