ABSTRACT: In the crystal of the title compound, [Cd2Na2(C2H3O2)2(C21H24N2O4)2]·0.67C2H6O, the doubly deprotonated Schiff base ligand N,N',O,O'-chelates to the Cd(II) cation, which is also O,O'-chelated by the acetate ion. Two Cd-Schiff base units are connected to two Na(+) atoms to form the tetra-nuclear complex, in which the Cd(2+) and Na(+) cations show distorted octa-hedral coordinations. The asymmetric unit consists of half a tetra-nuclear mol-ecule (lying on an inversion center) and a full tetra-nuclear mol-ecule (lying on a general position) along with a lattice ethanol mol-ecule, which links to the coordinating acetate ion via an O-H?O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, the propyl and ethyl groups of the complex mol-ecule are disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio; the ethyl group of the lattice ethanol mol-ecule is also equally disordered over two positions.

In the crystal, a centre of inversion is located at the mid-point of the compound. The diimino-hexyl-ene chain is almost ideally in the anti conformation, with an average dihedral angle of 179.0°.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(C(2)H(3)O(2))(H(2)O)]·2CH(3)OH, the Co(III) atom is hexa-coordinated by water and acetate groups in the axial positions and by the tetra-dentate Schiff base occupying equatorial positions. These axial bonds are longer than the equatorial bonds to the tetra-dentate Schiff base. Two mol-ecules form a dimer through strong hydrogen bonds from the coordinated water of one mol-ecule to the meth-oxy O atoms of an adjoining mol-ecule. There is extensive intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the coordinated water and acetate ligands and the methanol solvent mol-ecules. In addition, there are weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions, which link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional array.

The dihedral angle between benzene rings is 79.6 (2)°. Two intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are present. In the crystal, the components are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯π inter-actions, generating a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

The coordination of Ni is square-planar with the donor centers of two imine N atoms and two phenolate O atoms. The holmium(III) center has a tenfold -coordination environment of O atoms, involving the phenolate O atoms, two eth-oxy O atoms and two O atoms each from the three nitrates. Weak C-H⋯O and O⋯Ni [3.383 (4) Å] inter-actions generate a two-dimensional zigzag sheet.

The water H atoms form bifurcated O-H⋯(O,O) inter-molecular hydrogen bonds with the O atoms of the phenolate and eth-oxy groups with R(1) (2)(5) and R(1) (2)(6) ring motifs, which may, in part, influence the mol-ecular configuration. The dihedral angle between the two O-Cu-N coordination planes is 31.02 (6)° and the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 34.98 (7)°. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked together by inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming extended chains along the a axis. The crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯π and π-π [centroid-centroid = 3.5068 (13) Å] inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(18)H(14)Cl(4)N(2)O(2))(2)](n), contains two independent Cu(II) ions which are bridged by a pair of 4,4',6,6'-tetra-chloro-2,2'-[butane-1,4-diylbis(nitrilo-methanylyl-idene)]diphenolate ligands, forming a dinuclear unit. One of the Cu(II) ions is coordinated in a distorted square-planar environment and the other is coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. The long apical Cu-O bond of the square-pyramidal coordinated Cu(II) ion is formed by a symmetry-related O atom, creating a one-dimensional polymer along [010]. In addition, short inter-molecular Cl?Cl distances [3.444?(2)?Å] and weak ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.736?(2)-3.875?(3)?Å] are observed. The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a refined twin component ratio of 0.60?(1):0.40?(1).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mo(C(19)H(16)Cl(4)N(2)O(2))O(2)], comprises two independent mol-ecules (A and B). The geometry around the Mo(VI) atom is distorted octa-hedral in each complex mol-ecule, supported by two oxide O atoms and the N(2)O(2) donor atoms of the coordinating ligand. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 74.96 (11) Å for mol-ecule A and 76.05 (11) Å for mol-ecule B. In the crystal, the B mol-ecules are linked by pairs of C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers. The crystal structure is further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions. An inter-esting feature of the crystal structure is a Cl⋯Cl contact [3.3748 (18) Å], which is shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of Cl atoms (3.50 Å).
