ABSTRACT: The title mol-ecule, C12H10N4O2, located about an inversion centre, is roughly planar, with an r.m.s. deviation from the least-squares plane of all non-H atoms of 0.019?Å. In the crystal, N-H?N hydrogen bonds between the amide N-H group and the pyridine N atom connect the mol-ecules into a corrugated layer parallel to (10-1).

Project description:Two half mol-ecules of the title compound, C16H16N2S2, are present in the asymmetric unit and both mol-ecules are completed by crystallographic inversion centers at the mid-points of the central C-C bonds: the lengths of these bonds [1.538?(5) and 1.533?(5)?Å] indicate negligible electronic delocalization. The trans-di-thio-oxamide fragment in each mol-ecule is characterized by a pair of intra-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H..? inter-actions, generating a three-dimensional network.

In the crystal, one of the two pyrimidine N atoms engages in N-H?N hydrogen bonding with one of the pyridine N atoms, generating a helical chain running along the c axis. Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(12)H(10)N(4)O(2), contains three half-mol-ecules. Each half-mol-ecule is completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry. The title compound, (I), is a polymorph of the structure, (II), reported by Hsu & Chen [Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. (2004), 1488-1493]. In the original report, the compound crystallized in the tetra-gonal space group P[Formula: see text]2(1)c (Z = 8), whereas the structure reported here is triclinic (P[Formula: see text], Z = 3). In both forms, each oxamide mol-ecule is almost planar (with maximum deviations are 0.266 and 0.166?Å) and the O atoms are trans oriented. The principal difference between the two forms lies in the different hydrogen-bonding patterns. In (I), two N-H?O and one N-H?N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming a two-dimensional network, whereas in (II) there are no classical hydrogen bonds to O atoms and only weak C-H?O inter-actions are found along with rings of N-H?N bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)Br(2)(C(7)H(8)NO)(2)], was synthesized by reaction of CuBr(2) with 2-(pyridin-2-yl)ethanol (hep-H) in methanol. The asymmetric unit consists of one hep ligand and a CuBr unit. The Cu(2+) ion is thereby coordinated by the N atom and the deprotonated hydroxy O atom in a distorted square-planar geometry that is completed by another O atom. The Mn(II) cation is coordinated by two N-bonded seleno-cyanate anions, two bpa ligands and two O-bonded methanol mol-ecules, within a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Mn(II) cations and the non-coordinating N-donor ligands are located on centers of inversion while the coordinating N-donor co-ligands are located on a twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, the Mn(II) cations are linked into chains along the c-axis direction by the bpa ligands. The chains are further connected via a non-coordinating bpa ligand into layers parallel to (3-10) via O-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.
