ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C28H24N2O2S2, contains one-half mol-ecule, which is completed by twofold rotation symmetry with the twofold axis passing through the mid-point of the central S-S bond. The planes of the two benzene rings linked by the di-sulfide chain form a dihedral angle of 76.1?(1)°, while the planes of the two benzene rings in the benzyl-ideneaniline fragment form a dihedral angle of 48.9?(1)°. The crystal packing exhibits no significantly short inter-molecular contacts.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C28H22N4O9, exhibits crystallographically imposed twofold rotational symmetry, with a dihedral angle of 66.0 (2)° between the planes of the two central benzene rings bounded to the central oxygen atom. The dihedral angle between the planes of the central benzene ring and the terminal phenol ring is 4.9 (2)°. Each half of the mol-ecule exhibits an imine E configuration. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond is present. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked into layers parallel to the ab plane via C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal studied was refined as a two-component pseudomerohedral twin.

Project description:The title compound, C32H30N4O2S4, consists of two Schiff base moieties, namely two S-benzyl-?-N-(2-hy-droxy-phenyl-ethyl-idene)di-thio-carbazate groups, which are connected through an S-S single bond. These two moieties are twisted with respect to each other, with a dihedral angle of 87.88?(4)° between the S2C=N planes. A bifurcated intra-molecular O-H?(N,S) hydrogen bond is observed in each moiety. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of C-H?O hydrogen bonds into inversion dimers. The dimers are further stacked in a column along the b axis through weak C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:The title Schiff base compound, C22H19NO2S, crystallized with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. Both mol-ecules have an E conformation about the C=N bond. The two mol-ecules differ in the orientation of the aromatic rings with respect to each other. The outer 4-meth-oxy-benzene ring is inclined to the central benzene ring and the outer 4-acetyl-benzene ring by 1.80?(19) and 63.73?(19)°, respectively, in mol-ecule A, and by 6.72?(18) and 68.53?(19)°, respectively, in mol-ecule B. The two outer benzene rings are inclined to one another by 63.77?(18) and 63.19?(18)° in mol-ecules A and B, respectively. In the crystal, the individual mol-ecules stack in columns along [010], and are linked by a number of C-H?? inter-actions, forming slabs lying parallel to (001).

It was prepared in high yield by condensation of ?-methyl-cinnamaldehyde and bis-(4-amino-phen-yl) ether in methanol at room temperature. The sample, with pseudo-ortho-rhom-bic cell parameters, exhibited merohedral twinning by rotation 180° around a*, with a refined twin domain fraction of 0.722?(1). The elongated shape of the elementary cell corresponds to the shape and direction of the mol-ecules. The dihedral angle between the O-linked aromatic rings is 57.86?(8)°.
