ABSTRACT: The title compound, [In2(CH3)4(C6H4O2)(C5H5N)] or [{(CH3)2In}(1,3-O2C6H4){In(CH3)2(py)}] n , (py = pyridine) contains two crystallographically unique In(III) ions which are in distorted tetra-hedral C2O2 and distorted trigonal-bipyramidal C2O2N coordination environments. The In(III) coordination centers are bridged head-to-head via In-O bonds, yielding four-membered In2O2 rings and zigzag polymeric chains along [001].

Project description:The title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [Zn(C9H4O6)(C5H5N)2] n or [Zn(HBTC)(py)2] n , (I), where BTC is benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate and py is pyridine, is a solvent-free polymorph of [Zn(HBTC)(py)2]·2C2H5OH [Yaghi et al. (1997 ▶). Chem. Mater. 9, 1074-1076]. Differences in the spatial arrangements and supra-molecular packing of the [Zn(HBTC)(py)2] n chains in the two structures are described. The chain in (I) extends parallel to [100] and is severely puckered, with a Zn⋯Zn distance of 8.3599 (3) Å and a Zn⋯Zn⋯Zn angle of 107.516 (3)°, as a result of hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of the types O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O. There is no evidence for π-π inter-actions in (I). The differences between the solvent-free and solvent-containing structures can be accounted for by the absence of the ethanol solvent mol-ecule and the use of the converging pair of O atoms in the bis-monodentate bridging HBTC(2-) ligand in (I).

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(C(7)H(7)S)(2)(C(13)H(14)N(2))](n), the unique Cd(II) ion, located on a twofold rotation axis, is coordinated by two S atoms and two N atoms in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral environment. Symmetry-related Cd(II) ions are linked via bridging 1,3-di-4-pyridylpropane ligands, forming a zig-zag chain-structure parallel to [001]. In the crystal structure, there are weak intra-chain π-π stacking inter-actions between benzene rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.825 (7) Å, and pairs of chains are inter-digitated with respect to the 4-methyl-benzene-thiol-ate groups.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, {[Ce2(C8H4O5)3(H2O)9]·6H2O} n , the asymmetric unit is formed by two Ce(III) atoms, three 5-hy-droxy-benzene-1,3-di-carboxyl-ate ligands, nine coordinating water mol-ecules and six water mol-ecules of crystallization. The two Ce(III) atoms are bridged by 5-hy-droxy-benzene-1,3-di-carboxyl-ate ligands acting in a bis-bidentate coordination mode, generating infinite chains along [101]. Both independent metal atoms are nine-coordinated, one by four O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups of two bridging 5-hy-droxy-benzene-1,3-di-carboxyl-ate ligands and five O atoms from water mol-ecules, generating a tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The coordination around the second Ce(III) atom is similar, except that one of the water mol-ecules is replaced by an O atom from an additional 5-hy-droxy-benzene-1,3-di-carboxyl-ate ligand acting in a monodentate coordination mode and forming a capped square-anti-prismatic geometry.

Project description:The title complex, [Ti2Cl4{CH3C(CH2O)2(CH2OH)}2], lies across a centre of symmetry with a diethyl ether solvent mol-ecule hydrogen bonded to the -CH2OH groups on either side of it. The Ti(IV) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by a tripodal ligand and two terminal chloride atoms. There are three coordination modes for the tripodal ligand distinguishable on the basis of their very different Ti-O bond lengths. For the terminal alkoxo ligand, the Ti-O distance is 1.760?(1)?Å, the asymmetric bridge system has Ti-O bond lengths of 1.911?(1) and 2.048?(1)?Å. The Ti-O bond length for the alcohol O atom is the longest at 2.148?(1)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, {(C7H6NS)2[Sb2Cl6O]} n , contains two benzo-thia-zolidium cations and one tri-μ-chlorido-tri-chlorido-μ-oxido-di-anti-monate(III) anion. The structure of the inorganic cation may be described as as being built up from two polyhedra, i.e. a square-pyramidal SbCl4O and a distorted octa-hedral SbOCl5 unit, sharing a common face (comprising the O atom and two Cl atoms). The two benzo-thia-zole cations are quasi-planar and subtend a dihedral angle of 19.93 (5)°. The crystal packing can be described by alternating (100) layers and [001] chains of the organic cations and inorganic anions connected through an extensive three-dimensional network of N-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. This is consolidated by slipped π-π stacking, with centroid-to-centroid distances between the benzo-thia-zole rings of 3.7111 (18)-3.8452 (16) Å. These inter-actions link the mol-ecules within the layers and also link the layers together and reinforce the cohesion of the ionic structure.

Project description:In the binuclear centrosymmetric title compound, [In(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O, which contains both pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate and 3-carb-oxy-pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate ligands, the In(III) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. One pyridine ligand is N,O-chelated while the other is N,O-chelated and at the same time bridging to the other via the second carboxyl group. In the crystal, an extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding network, involving the coordinated and lattice water mol-ecules and the carboxyl groups of the ligands, together with C-H⋯O and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.793 (1) Å], leads to the formation of a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The cubic crystal structure of the title compound, [NaNd(C(14)H(21)N(3)O(5)PS)(4)](n), is composed of one-dimensional polymeric chains propagating in [100], built up from [Nd(C(14)H(21)N(3)O(5)PS)(4)](-) anions and sodium cations functioning as linkers. In the complex anion, the Nd(3+) ion has an eightfold coordination environment formed by the sulfonyl and phosphoryl O atoms of four bidentate chelating N-(dimorpholinophosphor-yl)benzene-sulfonamidate ligands: the resulting NdO(8) polyhedron can be described as inter-mediate between dodeca-hedral and square anti-prismatic. The sodium ion adopts an NaO(4) tetra-hedral geometry arising from four monodentate benzene-sulfonamidate ligands. The resulting crystal structure is unusual because it contains substantial voids (800?Å(3) per unit cell), within which there is no evidence of included solvent.
