[μ2-N (2),N (2')-Bis(3-meth-oxy-2-oxido-benzyl-idene)benzene-1,3-dicarbo-hydrazi-dato]bis-[pyridine-copper(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title complex, [Cu2(C24H18N4O6)(C5H5N)2], the Cu(II) ions is tetra-coordinated by two O-atoms and one N-donor of the bridging terephthalo-hydra-zonate ligand and by one pyridine N atom, resulting in a nearly square-planar N2O2 coordination geometry with the Cu(II) ion 0.044 (2) Å out of the mean plane (r.m.s. deviation of 0.0675 Å) of the coordinating atoms.

The metal ions are bridged by one O atom from the symmetry-related Schiff base ligands, forming a centrosymmetric dinuclear copper(II) complex. The dimeric complex is linked to another dimer via weaker Cu-O inter-actions and also O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title Schiff base, C19H22N2O3, was synthesized via the condensation reaction of 1,3-di-amino-propan-2-ol with 4-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde using water as solvent. The mol-ecule exists in an E,E conformation with respect to the C=N imine bonds and the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 37.25?(15)°. In the crystal, O-H?N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into infinite C(5) chains propagating along the a-axis direction. The packing of these chains is consolidated by C-H?O inter-actions and C-H?? short contacts, forming a three-dimensional network.
