Crystal structure of (pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene)(tri-phenyl-meth-yl)amine.

ABSTRACT: The title Schiff base compound, C25H20N2, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. In both mol-ecules, the imine group is approximately coplanar with the pyridine ring, with N-C-C-N torsion angles of 170.1?(3) and -172.0?(3)?Å. In the crystal, A and B dimers are linked by pairs of C-H?? inter-actions and further C-H?? bonds link the dimers into a three-dimensional network.

The title Schiff base compound, C25H20N2, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. Project description:The new copper(II) complex, namely, di-?-chlorido-bis-{chlorido-[meth-yl(pyri-din-2-yl-methyl-idene)amine-?2 N,N']copper(II)}, [Cu2Cl4(C7H8N2)2], (I), with the ligand 2-pyridyl-methyl-N-methyl-imine (L, a product of Schiff base condensation between methyl-amine and 2-pyridine-carbaldehyde) is built of discrete centrosymmetric dimers. The coordination about the CuII ion can be described as distorted square pyramidal. The base of the pyramid consists of two nitro-gen atoms from the bidentate chelate L [Cu-N = 2.0241?(9), 2.0374?(8)?Å] and two chlorine atoms [Cu-Cl = 2.2500?(3), 2.2835?(3)?Å]. The apical position is occupied by another Cl atom with the apical bond being significantly elongated at 2.6112?(3)?Å. The trans angles of the base are 155.16?(3) and 173.79?(2)°. The Cu?Cu separation in the dimer is 3.4346?(3)?Å. In the crystal structure, the loosely packed dimers are arranged in stacks propagating along the a axis. The X-band polycrystalline 77?K EPR spectrum of (I) demonstrates a typical axial pattern characteristic of mononuclear CuII complexes. Compound (I) is redox active and shows a cyclic voltammetric response with E 1/2 = -0.037?V versus silver-silver chloride electrode (SSCE) assignable to the reduction peak of CuII/CuI in methanol as solvent.

Project description:In the title compound, C15H23N3O3, the piperazine ring is in a slightly distorted chair conformation and is twisted from the mean plane of the benzene ring making a dihedral angle of 14.94 (6)°. The 4-meth-oxy substituent is almost co-planar with the benzene ring [C-C-O-C torsion angle = 5.4 (1)°], while the meth-oxy groups at positions 2 and 3 [C-C-O-C torsion angles of 122.6 (4) and -66.1 (4)°, respectively] are twisted away from the mean plane of the benzene ring in anti-clinical and synclinical conformations, respectively. No classical hydrogen bonds or any weak inter-molecular inter-actions are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C15H13N3O3·H2O, comprises a 4-{(E)-[2-(pyridin-4-ylcarbon-yl)hydrazinyl-idene]meth-yl}phenyl acetate mol-ecule and a solvent water mol-ecule linked by O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds from the water mol-ecule and a C-H?O contact from the organic mol-ecule. The compound adopts an E conformation with respect to the azomethine bond and the dihedral angle between the pyridine and benzene rings is 21.90?(7)°. The azomethine bond [1.275?(2)?Å] distance is very close to the formal C=N bond length, which confirms the azomethine bond formation. An extensive set of O-H?O, O-H?N, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds builds a two-dimensional network progressing along the c axis.

Project description:The title compound, C26H23F3N4O, crystallizes with two symmetry-independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, denoted A and B, which differ mainly in the rotation of the meth-oxy-phenyl ring. The -CF3 group of mol-ecule B is disordered by rotation, with the F atoms split over two sets of sites; the occupancy factor for the major component is 0.853?(4). The dihedral angles between the pyrimidine ring and the attached phenyl, meth-oxy-phenyl and tri-fluoro-methyl-phenyl rings are 8.1?(2), 37.5?(2) and 70.7?(2)°, respectively, in mol-ecule A, and 9.3?(2), 5.3?(2) and 79.7?(2)° in mol-ecule B. An intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bond occurs in each mol-ecule. In the crystal, two crystallographically independent mol-ecules associate into a dimer via a pair of N-H?N hydrogen bonds, with a resulting R 2 (2)(12) ring motif and ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.517?(4)?Å] between the pyrimidine rings. For the A mol-ecules, there are inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds between an aryl C atom of meth-oxy-phenyl ring and a meth-oxy O atom of an adjacent mol-ecule. A similar inter-action is lacking in the B mol-ecules.

The syn arrangement of the thione S and amino H atoms enables the formation of N-H?S hydrogen bonds between centrosymmetrically related mol-ecules. These lead to eight-membered {?HNC=S}(2) synthons which are further stabilized by proximate C-H?S interactions. The resulting dimeric aggregates are connected into a supra-molecular chain along the c axis by C-H??(tol-yl) inter-actions.

Project description:In the neutral complex mol-ecule of the title compound, fac-[CrCl3(tpa)] [tpa is tris-(pyridin-2-yl)amine; C15H12N4], the Cr(III) ion is bonded to three N atoms that are constrained to a facial arrangement by the tpa ligand and by three chloride ligands, leading to a distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere. The average Cr-N and Cr-Cl bond lengths are 2.086 (5) and 2.296 (4) Å, respectively. The complex mol-ecule is located on a mirror plane. In the crystal, a combination of C-H⋯N and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions connect the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

The chains are further linked via weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional sheets parallel to (010). The sheets interact by van der Waals inter-actions.
