ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C13H12N2, all non-H atoms, except for those of the pyridine ring, are essentially coplanar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.025?Å. The mean plane of these atoms forms a dihedral angle of 80.98?(4)° with the pyridine ring. In the crystal, weak C-H?? inter-actions link the mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional network.

In both mol-ecules, the imine group is approximately coplanar with the pyridine ring, with N-C-C-N torsion angles of 170.1?(3) and -172.0?(3)?Å. In the crystal, A and B dimers are linked by pairs of C-H?? inter-actions and further C-H?? bonds link the dimers into a three-dimensional network.

Crystal structure of [tris-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine-?(4) N]copper(II) bromide.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CuBr(C18H18N4)]Br, there are three crystallographically independent cations. One of the cations exhibits positional disorder of the pyridin-2-yl-methyl groups over two sets of sites with refined occupancies of 0.672?(8) and 0.328?(8). The outer-sphere bromine counter-ion is severely disordered over multiple sites. In each cation, the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by the four N atoms of the tris-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine ligand and one bromine and adopts a slightly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry.

N-(Pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)pyridin-2-amine.

Project description:The title compound, C(11)H(11)N(3), crystallizes with two mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. The geometries of both mol-ecules are very similar, with the exception of the torsion angles of the inter-ring chains; the values for C-N-C-C are 67.4?(5) and -69.3?(5)° for mol-ecules A and B, respectively. The dihedral angles between the pyridyl ring planes are 84.0?(2) and 83.2?(2)° for mol-ecules A and B, respectively. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds and C-H?? inter-actions contribute to the stabilization of the packing.

Crystal structure of a seven-coordinate manganese(II) complex with tris-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine (TMPA).

Project description:Structural analysis of (acetato-?2O,O')(methanol-?O)[tris-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine-?4N,N',N'',N''']manganese(II) tetraphenyl-borate, [Mn(C2H3O2)(C18H18N4)(CH3OH)](C24H20B) or [Mn(TMPA)(Ac)(CH3OH)]BPh4 [TMPA = tris-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine, Ac = acetate, BPh4 = tetra-phenyl-borate] by single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals a complex cation with tetra-dentate coordination of the tripodal TMPA ligand, bidentate coordination of the Ac ligand and monodentate coordination of the methanol ligand to a single MnII center, balanced in charge by the presence of a tetra-phenyl-borate anion. The MnII complex has a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry, in which the central amine nitro-gen and two pyridyl N atoms of the TMPA ligand, and two oxygen atoms of the acetate ligand occupy positions in the penta-gonal plane, while the third pyridyl nitro-gen of TMPA and the oxygen from the methanol ligand occupy the axial positions. Within the complex, the acetate O atoms participate in weak C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions with neighboring pyridyl moieties. In the crystal, complexes form dimers by pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated methanol of one complex and an acetate oxygen of the other, and weak ?-stacking inter-actions between pyridine rings. Separate dimers then undergo additional ?-stacking inter-actions between the pyridine rings of one moiety and either the pyridine or phenyl rings of another moiety that further stabilize the crystal.

Project description:In the title complex, [AuCl(C24H20NOP)], the ligand has N, P and O electron-donating atoms but the Au(I) atom is coordinated only by the 'soft' P atom and an additional Cl atom in an almost linear fashion. Important geometrical parameters include Au-P = 2.2321?(13)?Å, Au-Cl = 2.2820?(13)?Å and P-Au-Cl = 176.49?(5)°. The furan ring is disordered over two positions in a 0.51?(2):0.49?(2) ratio.

Crystal structure and characterization of a new copper(II) chloride dimer with meth-yl(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene)amine.

Project description:The new copper(II) complex, namely, di-?-chlorido-bis-{chlorido-[meth-yl(pyri-din-2-yl-methyl-idene)amine-?2 N,N']copper(II)}, [Cu2Cl4(C7H8N2)2], (I), with the ligand 2-pyridyl-methyl-N-methyl-imine (L, a product of Schiff base condensation between methyl-amine and 2-pyridine-carbaldehyde) is built of discrete centrosymmetric dimers. The coordination about the CuII ion can be described as distorted square pyramidal. The base of the pyramid consists of two nitro-gen atoms from the bidentate chelate L [Cu-N = 2.0241?(9), 2.0374?(8)?Å] and two chlorine atoms [Cu-Cl = 2.2500?(3), 2.2835?(3)?Å]. The apical position is occupied by another Cl atom with the apical bond being significantly elongated at 2.6112?(3)?Å. The trans angles of the base are 155.16?(3) and 173.79?(2)°. The Cu?Cu separation in the dimer is 3.4346?(3)?Å. In the crystal structure, the loosely packed dimers are arranged in stacks propagating along the a axis. The X-band polycrystalline 77?K EPR spectrum of (I) demonstrates a typical axial pattern characteristic of mononuclear CuII complexes. Compound (I) is redox active and shows a cyclic voltammetric response with E 1/2 = -0.037?V versus silver-silver chloride electrode (SSCE) assignable to the reduction peak of CuII/CuI in methanol as solvent.

Project description:The title hydrazine carbodi-thio-ate, C13H18N2OS2, is constructed about a central and almost planar C2N2S2 chromophore (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0263 Å); the terminal meth-oxy-benzene group is close to coplanar with this plane [dihedral angle = 3.92 (11)°]. The n-butyl group has an extended all-trans conformation [torsion angles S-Cm-Cm-Cm = -173.2 (3)° and Cm-Cm-Cm-Cme = 180.0 (4)°; m = methyl-ene and me = meth-yl]. The most prominent feature of the mol-ecular packing is the formation of centrosymmetric eight-membered {⋯HNCS}2 synthons, as a result of thio-amide-N-H⋯S(thio-amide) hydrogen bonds; these are linked via meth-oxy-C-H⋯π(meth-oxy-benzene) inter-actions to form a linear supra-molecular chain propagating along the a-axis direction. An analysis of the calculated Hirshfeld surfaces and two-dimensional fingerprint plots point to the significance of H⋯H (58.4%), S⋯H/H⋯S (17.1%), C⋯H/H⋯C (8.2%) and O⋯H/H⋯O (4.9%) contacts in the packing. The energies of the most significant inter-actions, i.e. the N-H⋯S and C-H⋯π inter-actions have their most significant contributions from electrostatic and dispersive components, respectively. The energies of two other identified close contacts at close to van der Waals distances, i.e. a thione-sulfur and meth-oxy-benzene-hydrogen contact (occurring within the chains along the a axis) and between methyl-ene-H atoms (occurring between chains to consolidate the three-dimensional architecture), are largely dispersive in nature.

Project description:In the title compound, C19H25N5O2, the morpholine ring has a chair conformation. The plane of the central benzene ring makes dihedral angles of 88.75 (12) and 60.02 (7)°, respectively, with the mean plane formed by the four planar C atoms of the morpholine ring and with the plane of the triazole ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming slabs lying parallel to (10-1). The C atoms of the bridging ethyl-ene group, between the morpholine and benzene rings, and the terminal ethene group of the prop-1-ene substituent attached to the triazole ring, are disordered over two sets of sites, with an occupancy ratio of 0.634 (13):0.366 (13).

Project description:In the title compound, C22H19ClN4O, the quinolinol moiety is almost planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.012?Å]. There is an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond involving the hy-droxy group and a pyridine N atom forming an S(9) ring motif. The dihedral angles between the planes of the quinolinol moiety and the pyridine rings are 44.15?(9) and 36.85?(9)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via C-H?O hydrogen bonds forming inversion dimers with an R 4 (4)(10) ring motif. The dimers are linked by C-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming ribbons along [01-1]. The ribbons are linked by C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions [inter-centroid distance = 3.7109?(11)?Å], forming layers parallel to (01-1).

S-Benzyl 3-[1-(6-methyl-pyridin-2-yl)ethyl-idene]di-thio-carbazate: crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis.

Project description:In the title di-thio-carbazate ester, C16H17N3S2 (systematic name: (Z)-{[(benzyl-sulfan-yl)methane-thio-yl]amino}[1-(6-methyl-pyridin-2-yl)ethyl-idene]amine), the central methyl-idenehydrazinecarbodi-thio-ate (C2N2S2) core is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0111 Å) and forms dihedral angles of 71.67 (3)° with the approximately orthogonally inclined thio-ester phenyl ring, and 7.16 (7)° with the approximately coplanar substituted pyridyl ring. The latter arrangement and the Z configuration about the imine-C=N bond allows for the formation of an intra-molecular hydrazine-N-H⋯N(pyrid-yl) hydrogen bond that closes an S(6) loop. In the crystal, phenyl-C-H⋯S(thione), methyl-ene-C-H⋯π(pyrid-yl), methyl-ene- and phenyl-C-H⋯π(phen-yl) contacts connect mol-ecules into supra-molecular layers propagating in the bc plane; the layers stack along the a axis with no directional inter-actions between them. The analysis of the Hirshfeld surface indicates the relative importance of an intra-layer phenyl-H⋯H(pyrid-yl) contact upon the mol-ecular packing.
