Crystal structure of 3,3'-diisopropyl-1,1'-(pyridine-2,6-di-yl)bis-[1H-imidazole-2(3H)-thione].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C17H21N5S2, the dihedral angles between the central pyridine ring and its pendant imidazole rings are 29.40 (9) and 40.77 (9)°; the pendant rings are twisted in an opposite sense with respect to the central ring. In each case, the S atom is approximately anti to the N atom of the pyridine ring. For both substituents, the H atom attached to the central C atom of the isopropyl group is approximately syn to the S atom in the attached ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H⋯S inter-actions, generating C(5) chains propagating along [001].

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(9)H(8)N(2)S, there are four symmetry-independent mol-ecules (Z' = 4). The geometrical features of these mol-ecules are quite similar: in the normal probability plots the R(2) correlation factors for bond lengths and angles are generally around 0.95. The twist angles between the imidazole and phenyl rings (which are planar within 3σ) range from 9.0 (6) to 13.1 (5)°. In the crystal, pairs of independent molecules are joined by linear N-H⋯S and weak C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, forming infinite ribbons, of the type ∼ABABAB∼ and ∼CDCDCD∼, propagating along [110]. Second-order hydrogen-bonded R(2) (2)(8) rings are formed via inter-weaving infinite C(2) (2)(8) chains.

The mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional framework with a parallel laminated construction via O-H⋯N and C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, a new macrocyclic metal complex, [Ag(NO(3))(C(21)H(15)N(3)O(4))], all non-H atoms are in a close-to-planar geometry (except for the nitrate anion), with a maximum out-of-plane deviation of 0.327 (6) Å for a pyridine C atom. The dihedral angle between the least-squares plane through the [3,3'-dihy-droxy-3,3'-bis-(pyridin-3-yl)-1,1'-(pyridine-2,6-di-yl)dipropan-1-one]silver(I) fragment and the nitrate anion is 31.29 (13)°. Project description:In the title compound, C13H16N2S2, the seven-membered ring adopts a boat conformation, with the two phenyl-ene C atoms representing the stern and the methyl-ene C atom as the prow. The thione S atoms and N-bound ethyl groups lie on the opposite side of the mol-ecule to the phenyl-ene ring so that the mol-ecule approximates mirror symmetry. In the crystal, supra-molecular layers in the bc plane are sustained by a pair of C-H⋯S inter-actions to the same S atom acceptor.
