Stress granules (SGs) are cytoplasmic condensates of stalled messenger ribonucleoprotein complexes (mRNPs) that form when eukaryotic cells encounter environmental stress. RNA-binding proteins are enriched for arginine methylation and facilitate SG assembly through interactions involving regions of low amino acid complexity.
