Crystal structure of chlorido-(dimethyl sulfoxide-?S)bis-[4-(pyridin-2-yl)benzaldehyde-?³C²,N]iridium(III) aceto-nitrile monosolvate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [IrCl(C₁₂H₈NO)₂{(CH₃)₂SO}]·H₃CCN or [IrCl(fppy)₂(DMSO)]·H₃CCN [where fppy is 4-(pyridin-2-yl)benzaldehyde and DMSO is dimethyl sulfoxide], is a mononuclear iridium(III) complex including two fppy ligands, a sulfur-coordinating DMSO ligand, and one terminal chloride ligand that define a distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere. The complex crystallizes from 1:1 DMSO-aceto-nitrile as an aceto-nitrile solvate. In the crystal, weak C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between adjacent complexes and between the aceto-nitrile solvent and the complex consolidate the packing.

Project description:A reaction between [(COD)IrCl]2 (COD is cyclo-octa-1,5-diene), HCl and indene failed to provide the hoped for chlorido-indenyliridium dimer, but instead produced the title compound, [IrCl3(CH3CN)(C8H12)], which is an octa-hedral complex of iridium(III) with a chelating cyclo-octa-1,5-diene ligand, three chloride ligands in a fac arrangement, and one aceto-nitrile ligand. Attempts to devise a rational synthesis for the title compound were unsuccessful.

Project description:In the title compound, [FeIr(C5H5)(C20H14N3)Cl3]·2CH3CN, the central Ir(III) atom is sixfold coordinated by three chloride ligands and three terpyridine N atoms in a slightly distorted octa-hedral fashion. The terpyridine ligand is functionalized at the 4'-position with a ferrocenyl group, the latter being in an eclipsed conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are stacked in rows parallel to [001], with the aceto-nitrile solvent mol-ecules situated between the rows. An extensive network of intra- and inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl inter-actions is present, stabilizing the three-dimensional structure.

The Pd-N bond distances are 2.022?(2) and 2.027?(2)?Å, the Pd-Cl bond distances are 2.2880?(7) and 2.2833?(7)?Å, and the ligand bite angle is 80.07?(9)°. The dimethyl sulfoxide and water mol-ecules form linear chains along [100] by O-H?O and O-H?S hydrogen bonds, generating eight- and 12-membered rings. C-H?Cl inter-actions link the chains, forming a three-dimensional arrangement. In addition, the 4,4-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand exhibits ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.8741?(15) and 3.8353?(15)?Å]. The DMSO solvent is disordered and was refined with an occupancy ratio of 0.866?(3):0.134?(3).

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C26H17N13O·C2H6OS·2H2O, there is one independent hepta-zine-based main mol-ecule, one dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule and two water mol-ecules as solvents. The tri-s-triazine unit is substituted with two dipyridyl amine moieties and a carbonylic O atom. As indicated by the bond lengths in this acid unit of the hepta-zine derivative [C=O = 1.213 (2) Å, while the adjacent C-N(H) bond = 1.405 (2) Å] it is best described by the keto form. The cyameluric nucleus is close to planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.061 Å) and the pyridine rings are inclined to its mean plane by dihedral angles varying from 47.47 (5) to 70.22 (5)°. The host and guest mol-ecules are connected via N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming a four-membered inversion dimer-like arrangement enclosing an R 4 (4)(24) ring motif. These arrangements stack along [1-10] with a weak π-π inter-action [inter-centroid distance = 3.8721 (12) Å] involving adjacent pyridine rings. There are also C-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions present within the host mol-ecule and linking inversion-related mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The title compound (systematic name3,7-dihy-droxy-9-meth-oxy-1-methyl-6H-benzo[c]chromen-6-one dimethyl sulfoxide monosolvate), C15H12O5·C2H6OS, was isolated from an unidentified endophytic fungus (belonging to class Ascomycetes) of Taxus sp. In the crystal, both the alternariol 9-O-methyl ether (AME) and the dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) mol-ecules exhibit crystallographic mirror symmetry. One of the hy-droxy groups makes bifurcated hydrogen bonds, viz. an intra-molecular bond with the carbonyl group and an inter-molecular bond with the carbonyl group in an inversion-related AME mol-ecule. In the crystal, the AME mol-ecules are organized into stacks parallel with the b axis by π-π inter-actions between centrosymmetrically related mol-ecules [the distance between the centroid of the central ring and the centroid of the meth-oxy-substituted benzene ring in the next mol-ecule of the stack is 3.6184 (5) Å]. Pairs of DMSO mol-ecules, linked via centrosymmetric C-H⋯O contacts, are inserted into the voids created by the AME mol-ecules, making O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O contacts with the hosts.
