Chlorido(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)triphenyl-tin(IV).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)Cl(C(2)H(6)OS)], the Sn(IV) atom is coordinated by three phenyl groups, a chloride ion and a dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, weak C-H⋯π inter-actions and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.934 (3) Å. An intra-molecular C-H⋯π inter-action is also observed.

In the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)Cl(C(2)H(6)OS)], the Sn(IV) atom is coordinated by three phenyl groups, a chloride ion and a dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Sn(IV) atom lies 0.171 (3) Å out of the equatorial C(3) plane in the direction of the axially bound Cl atom.

Project description:In the title tribenzyl-chloridotin-triphenyl-phosphine adduct, [Sn(C(7)H(7))(3)Cl(C(18)H(15)OP)], the Sn(IV) atom is in a trans-C(3)SnClO trigonal-bipyramidal geometry and is displaced out of the C(3)Sn girdle in the direction of the axial Cl atom by 0.112 (1) in one independent mol-ecule and by 0.167 (1) Å in the other. The phenyl ring of one of the six benzyl units was refined as equally disordered over two sets of sites.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Sn(2)Cl(4)(C(2)H(6)OS)(4)], contains dimers formed through weak Sn⋯Cl [3.691 (2) Å] inter-actions, resulting in a planar Sn(2)Cl(2) core with an inversion center at the centre of the four-membered ring. The Sn(II) atoms are penta-coordinated and have a distorted octa-hedral Ψ-SnCl(3)O(2) coordination geometry. The O atoms from the dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecules occupy trans positions, while the Cl atoms exhibit a meridional arrangement.

The O atoms of one of the nitro groups are disordered over two sets of sites, with refined occupancies of 0.55 (4) and 0.45 (4). The closest inter-molecular inter-action is a weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bond.

Project description:The SnIV atom in the title diorganotin compound, [Sn(C7H6F)2Cl2(C2H6OS)2], is located on a centre of inversion, resulting in the C2Cl2O2 donor set having an all-trans disposition of like atoms. The coordination geometry approximates an octa-hedron. The crystal features C-H⋯F, C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯π inter-actions, giving rise to a three-dimensional network. The respective influences of the Cl⋯H/H⋯Cl and F⋯H/H⋯F contacts to the mol-ecular packing are clearly evident from the analysis of the Hirshfeld surface.

Monoclinic polymorph of chlorido-(dimethyl sulfoxide-κ<i>O</i>)tri-phenyl-tin(IV).

Project description:The crystal structure of the title tin complex, [Sn(C6H5)3Cl(C2H6OS)], (I), has been reported with one mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit in an ortho-rhom-bic cell [Kumar et al. (2009 ▸). Acta Cryst. E65, m1602-m1603]. While using SnPh3Cl as a starting material for a reaction for which the products were recrystallized over a very long time (six months) from dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), a new polymorph was obtained for (I), with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of a monoclinic cell. The coordination geometry of the Sn centres remains unchanged, with the Cl- ion and the DMSO mol-ecule in the apical positions and the phenyl C atoms in the equatorial positions of a trigonal bipyramid. The main difference between the polymorphs is the relative orientation of the phenyl rings in the equatorial plane, reflecting a degree of free rotation of these groups about their Sn-C bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into [010] chains mediated by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions.
