Chlorido(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)triphenyl-tin(IV).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)Cl(C(2)H(6)OS)], the Sn(IV) atom is coordinated by three phenyl groups, a chloride ion and a dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, weak C-H⋯π inter-actions and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.934 (3) Å. An intra-molecular C-H⋯π inter-action is also observed.

Monoclinic polymorph of chlorido-(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)tri-phenyl-tin(IV).

Project description:The crystal structure of the title tin complex, [Sn(C6H5)3Cl(C2H6OS)], (I), has been reported with one mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit in an ortho-rhom-bic cell [Kumar et al. (2009 ▸). Acta Cryst. E65, m1602-m1603]. While using SnPh3Cl as a starting material for a reaction for which the products were recrystallized over a very long time (six months) from dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), a new polymorph was obtained for (I), with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of a monoclinic cell. The coordination geometry of the Sn centres remains unchanged, with the Cl- ion and the DMSO mol-ecule in the apical positions and the phenyl C atoms in the equatorial positions of a trigonal bipyramid. The main difference between the polymorphs is the relative orientation of the phenyl rings in the equatorial plane, reflecting a degree of free rotation of these groups about their Sn-C bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into [010] chains mediated by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:The Sn(IV) atom in the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)Cl(C(13)H(12)OS)], is situated within a distorted C(3)ClO trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry with a mean Sn-C distance of 2.136?(6)?Å and with an Sn-O distance of 2.393?(4)?Å. The Sn(IV) atom lies 0.171?(3)?Å out of the equatorial C(3) plane in the direction of the axially bound Cl atom.

Project description:The title compound, [Sn(2)(CH(3)O)(2)Cl(6)(C(3)H(7)NO)(2)], contains two hexa-coordinated Sn(IV) atoms symmetrically bridged by two deprotonated methanol ligands, with an inversion center in the middle of the planar Sn(2)O(2) ring. The other sites of the distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry of the Sn(IV) atom are occupied by three Cl atoms and one O atom from a dimethyl-formamide mol-ecule. The complex mol-ecules are connected by weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional supra-molecular network parallel to (10).

Project description:The SnIV atom in the title diorganotin compound, [Sn(C7H6F)2Cl2(C2H6OS)2], is located on a centre of inversion, resulting in the C2Cl2O2 donor set having an all-trans disposition of like atoms. The coordination geometry approximates an octa-hedron. The crystal features C-H⋯F, C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯π inter-actions, giving rise to a three-dimensional network. The respective influences of the Cl⋯H/H⋯Cl and F⋯H/H⋯F contacts to the mol-ecular packing are clearly evident from the analysis of the Hirshfeld surface.
