ABSTRACT: The title compound, C38H40Br2N2, crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1 with two mol-ecules in a unit cell. The two carbazole groups are nearly coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 16.90?(5)°, and are bridged by vinyl. The crystal structure features ?-? and C-H?? inter-actions and C-H?Br short contacts.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, (C12H11BrN)2[Ni(C4N2S2)2], consists of one 1-(4-bromo-benz-yl)pyridinium cation and one half of a complex [Ni(mnt)2](2-) (mnt(2-) is the maleo-nitrile-dithiol-ate dianion). The Ni(2+) ion is located on an inversion centre and is coordinated by four S atoms from two mnt(2-) ligands, exhibiting a square-planar coordination environment. In the cation, the planes of the pyridinium and benzene rings make a dihedral angle of 69.86?(19)°. The cations and anions are alternately arranged in layers parallel to (001) and are held together by non-classical C-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, C27H29BrN2, the carbazole ring system is essentially planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0781?(16)?Å. An intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bond forms an S(6) ring motif. One of the tert-butyl substituents shows rotational disorder over two sites with occupancies of 0.592?(3) and 0.408?(3). In the crystal, two mol-ecules are associated into an inversion dimer through a pair of C-H?? inter-actions. The dimers are further linked by another pair of C-H?? inter-actions, forming a ribbon along the c-axis direction. A C-H?? inter-action involving the minor disordered component and the carbazole ring system links the ribbons, generating a network sheet parallel to (100).

Project description:The structure of the polymeric title compound, {[Zn2(C20H11NO4)2(C3H7NO)2(CH3OH)]·C3H7NO} n , comprises carbazolylisophthalate moieties connecting dimetallic tetra-carboxyl-ate zinc secondary building units (SBUs) parallel to [100] and [010], leading to a layer-like arrangement parallel to (001). Each SBU consists of two Zn atoms in slightly distorted tetra-hedral and octa-hedral coordination environments [Zn⋯Zn = 3.5953 (6) Å]. Three carboxyl-ate groups bridge the two Zn atoms in a μ2-O:O' mode, whereas the fourth coordinates through a single carboxyl-ate O atom (μ1-O). The O atoms of two di-methyl-formamide (DMF) and one methanol mol-ecule complete the Zn coordination spheres. The methanol ligand inter-acts with the noncoordinating DMF mol-ecule via an O-H⋯O hydrogen bond of medium strength. Carbazoles between the layers inter-digitate through weak C-H⋯.π inter-actions to form a laminar solid stacked along [010]. Two kinds of C-H⋯π inter-actions are present, both with a distance of 2.64 Å, between the H atoms and the centroids, and a third C-H⋯π inter-action, where the aromatic H atom is located above the carbazole N-atom lone pair (H⋯N = 2.89 Å). Several C-H⋯O inter-actions occur between the coordinating DMF mol-ecule, the DMF solvent mol-ecule, and ligating carboxyl-ate O atoms.

Project description:The title compound, [Fe2(C5H5)2(C20H14O2)], is the product of a new synthetic route towards tetra-aryl/hetaryl-substituted ethenes that reduces the occurrence of side-products. In the crystal, the mol-ecule is centrosymmetric and the cyclo-penta-dienyl (Cp) rings are nearly coplanar and aligned slightly closer to a staggered conformation than to an eclipsed one. The ethene plane is tilted by 32.40?(18)° with respect to that of the substituted Cp ring and by 63.19?(19)° with respect to that of the furan ring. C-H?? inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional supramolecular framework.

Project description:In the title compound [Fe(bpe)(Hbpe)Au(CN)2][Au(CN)2]2·bpe·2H2O} n [where bpe = 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene, C12H10N2], the FeII ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral [FeN4O2] environment by two di-cyano-aurate anions, two water mol-ecules and two partially protonated 1,2-di(4-pyrid-yl)ethyl-ene mol-ecules. Di-cyano-aurate anions bridge the FeII cations, forming infinite chains, which propagate along the a-axis direction. The chains are connected via aurophilic inter-actions with two non-coordinated di-cyano-aurate anions for each FeII ion. The polymeric chains inter-act with each other via ?-? stacking between the guest bpe mol-ecules and multiple hydrogen bonds.
