Survey data on employees' development and employees' satisfaction in oil and gas firms in Nigeria.

ABSTRACT: Employees' development involves ensuring that employees are compensated fairly, are not exposed to dangerous or environmentally unhealthy working environment and are treated ethically in the workplace, especially in a technology intense industry as that of the oil and gas sector. Thus, this article presents data on the effect of employees' development on employees' satisfaction. The study employed a descriptive quantitative research design engaging survey method. The study population consists of 1748 employees from four top oil and gas firms quoted in the Nigerian stock exchange. A sample size of 350 employees was selected. Data was analysed using statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Regression analysis was employed as the statistical tool of analysis. The field data set is made widely accessible in this article.

Project description:Several sources of today׳s pressure on managers in strategic decision-making are directly associated with social issues rather than traditional strategic management issues. It is believed that firms that invest in community development are more likely to operate in harmony in the society of their operations, as such reduce interference from their host community, thus leading to enhanced corporate image. Therefore, it becomes pertinent to present data to show the existence or otherwise of a relationship between community development initiatives and the firm׳s corporate image. This data is gotten from 336 respondents from four top oil and gas firms quoted in the Nigerian stock exchange. Responses wee gathered from the employees' of the firms, as it is believed they have first hand information on the firm׳s corporate social responsibility policies. The data is purely descriptive and was gotten through quantitative methods, specifically through a survey questionnaire. The questionnaire had two sections; section A contained background questions, while section B consisted of questions that were specific to community development initiatives and corporate image. The Cronbach alpha internal consistency of the questionnaire revealed a reliability coefficient of 0.732, thus revealing a high consistency level. The field data set is made widely accessible to enable critical investigation into the subject.

Project description:In today's business environment, organizations must continually and constantly reinvent themselves to stay relevant because they conduct operations in workplaces that are characterized by steady competition and erratic change. Most studies show that organizational improvement cannot occur without strategic changes directed to yield a difference in performance. Thus, improving performance requires the consideration of change-related policies and individuals' dispositions relevant to change. Strategic change as perceived by many authors requires qualitative changes and not simple continuous and usual changes. Strategic change must be aligned to the mission, and purpose of an organization. Employees' attitudes towards change strongly relates to their attitudes about their employer and changes at their organization because organizations continually commence new programs of organizational change, these ongoing and seemingly endless efforts put a lot of burden not only on organizations but also on individuals. Researchers highlight the challenges to strategic change as; poor organizational management and culture, increased technology installation, organizational structure, strong competition and employee issues. Attitudes toward strategic change are the feelings employees have toward different internal policies of the organization. Many investigations suggest that it is reasonable to expect employees to react to strategic change efforts since the process of change involves going from the known to the unknown. Consequently, it can be a very unpleasant experience for employees thus this article presents data in this regard.

Project description:This data article describes the dataset on the digital technologies and applications used by architectural firms in the delivery of building projects. The data set was sourced through a questionnaire survey of 75 registered architectural firms in Abuja, Nigeria. The survey was conducted between December 2017 and January 2018 in the study area. The data, which were analyzed using descriptive statistics, contain the characteristics of architectural firms in Abuja that participated in the survey, the different stand-alone and integrated data acquisition, creation, processing, storage and communication/exchange technologies, applications and tools and intelligent systems the firms use in building procurement process. In addition, the advantages and challenges associated with the use of digital technologies in the procurement of building projects by architectural firms in the study area are also presented in this dataset.

Project description:The main objective of this study was to present a data article that investigates the effect product features on firm's competitive advantage. Few studies have examined how the features of a product could help in driving the competitive advantage of a firm. Descriptive research method was used. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 22) was engaged for analysis of one hundred and fifty (150) valid questionnaire which were completed by small business owners registered under small and medium scale enterprises development of Nigeria (SMEDAN). Stratified and simple random sampling techniques were employed; reliability and validity procedures were also confirmed. Project description:This dataset covers an investigation into awareness and adoption of information and communication technology (ICT) in town planning firms in Lagos state, Nigeria. A survey of thirty (30) town planning firms in Lagos state, Nigeria was conducted. The survey was carried out between January to March 2017 by the use of questionnaires. The dataset contains responses on the factors that influence ICT usage, barriers and constraints of ICT usage. The five (5) point Likert scale was used for quantitative data analysis. The data can help identify the level of ICT usage, identify areas of concern and solutions can be proffered based on the results of the analysis.

Survey dataset on leadership styles and job satisfaction: The Perspective of employees of hospitality providers.

Project description:This study aimed at establishing the relationship between the dimensions of leadership styles and employees' job satisfaction in hospitality industry in Nigeria. This study was prompted by reports of high labour turnover in this sector of the economy (especially in the guesthouses), because of reduction in the satisfaction of the workforce. Cross-sectional research design which is quantitative in nature, was the methodology adopted for this study to assess the trends of relationships between the constructs. Questionnaire was used as the measuring instrument, and reliability and validity test for the instrument were established using cronbach alpha, for all the variables ranging between 71% and 89%. The study population comprises 410 employees in the six selected functioning guesthouses, which also represents the study sample. Total enumeration sampling technique was adopted. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software package (version 22) was used for the analysis of the data. The field dataset is available to the public for more rigorous, extensive, critical and extended analysis.

Project description:The dataset presented in this article is an examination of coronavirus (COVID-19) thought concern, employees' work performance, employees background, feeling about job, work motivation, job satisfaction, psychological state of mind and family commitment in two middle east countries. The data were collected one time of survey data during June and July 2020 targeting people from different sectors whom have job through a survey distributed via an online questionnaire. Coronavirus (COVID-19) thought concern (9 items), employees' work performance (5 items), employees background (6 items), feeling about job (5 items), work motivation (6 items), job satisfaction (6 items), psychological state of mind (2 items) and family commitment (3 items). A mixture of purposive and snowball techniques facilitated to choose the respondents via email. We distributed 950 questionnaires through email due to the current circumstances, we offer suggestions from actual time-surveys handled in two Arabic countries the Yemen and Saudi Aribia, with a total final correct sample of 307 respondents. The survey data were analysed utilizing descriptive and inferential statistics. The data will assist in work place, companies and employees' awareness.

Unconventional oil and gas development and ambient particle radioactivity.

Project description:Unconventional oil and natural gas development (UOGD) expanded extensively in the United States from the early 2000s. However, the influence of UOGD on the radioactivity of ambient particulate is not well understood. We collected the ambient particle radioactivity (PR) measurements of RadNet, a nationwide environmental radiation monitoring network. We obtained the information of over 1.5 million wells from the Enverus database. We investigated the association between the upwind UOGD well count and the downwind gross-beta radiation with adjustment for environmental factors governing the natural emission and transport of radioactivity. Our statistical analysis found that an additional 100 upwind UOGD wells within 20 km is associated with an increase of 0.024 mBq/m3 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.020, 0.028 mBq/m3) in the gross-beta particle radiation downwind. Based on the published health analysis of PR, the widespread UOGD could induce adverse health effects to residents living close to UOGD by elevating PR.
