2-(1,3-Oxazolin-2-yl)pyridine and 2,6-bis(1,3-oxazolin-2-yl) pyridine.

ABSTRACT: The data presented in this article are related to research articles "Titanium and vanadium catalysts with oxazoline ligands for ethylene-norbornene (co)polymerization (Och?dzan-Siod?ak et al., 2018). For the title compounds, 2-(1,3-oxazolin-2-yl)pyridine (Py-ox) and 2,6-bis(1,3-oxazolin-2-yl)pyridine (Py-box), the single-crystal X-ray diffraction measurement together with NMR, GC, MS, DSC analysis, like also the method of crystallization are presented.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(25)N(5), is an aminalization product between 2,6-diacetyl-pyridine and 1,3-diamino-propane. It crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit with different conformations. In the first mol-ecule, the methyl groups are cis oriented with respect to the pyridine ring [N-C-C-C torsion angles = 72.5?(1) and 80.3?(1)°], while they are trans oriented in the second mol-ecule [N-C-C-C torsion angles = 82.6?(1) and -90.8?(1)°]. Each of the two mol-ecules forms centrosymmetric dimers held together by N-H?N hydrogen bonds, thus forming R(2) (2)(16) rings. The two dimers are inter-linked by additional N-H?N bonds into R(4) (4)(14) rings, building chains along the a axis. These patterns influence the orientation (either equatorial or axial) of the N-H bonds.

Project description:The commercially available title compound, C(25)H(23)N(3)O(2), has been known since 1993 [Nesper et al. (1993 ?). Helv. Chim. Acta, 76, 2239-2249], but has not been structurally characterized until now. In the free ligand, the N atoms of both oxazoline rings point in opposite directions. The phenyl rings make dihedral angles of 30.56?(5) and 84.57?(3)° with the pyridine ring and 72.85?(3)° with each other.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C7H7Br2N, the C-Br vectors of the bromo-methyl groups extend to opposite sides of the pyridine ring and are oriented nearly perpendicular to its plane. In the crystal, the mol-ecules related by a c-glide-plane operation are arranged into stacks along the c axis, with centroid-centroid distances between neighboring aromatic rings of 3.778?(2)?Å. A short Br?Br contact of 3.6025?(11)?Å is observed within a pair of inversion-related mol-ecules.
