Long-term burn survivors have reduced aerobic capacity, placing them at increased risk for cardiovascular disease, morbidity, and mortality. However, the exact mechanism contributing to a reduced aerobic capacity remains incompletely understood, but may be related to adverse cardiovascular remodeling.
