Chromosome-Level Genome Sequence of Aspergillus chevalieri M1, Isolated from Katsuobushi.

ABSTRACT: In this study, we report the chromosome-level genome sequence of the osmophilic filamentous fungus Aspergillus chevalieri M1, which was isolated from a dried bonito, katsuobushi. This fungus plays a significant role in the fermentation and ripening process. Thus, elucidating the sequence data for this fungus will aid in subsequent genomic research on the fungi involved in katsuobushi production.

Indole Diketopiperazine Alkaloids Isolated From the Marine-Derived Fungus <i>Aspergillus chevalieri</i> MCCC M23426.

Project description:Two new indole diketopiperazines (1-2) obtained from the fermentation culture of a deep-sea-derived fungus Aspergillus chevalieri MCCC M23426, were characterized, together with nine biogenetic related compounds (3-11). The structures of 1-2 were assigned based on NMR, MS, NMR calculation, DP4+ analysis, and ECD calculation. The bioactive assay showed that compounds 1, 5-7 significantly inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Meanwhile, compound 8 potently reduced the cell viability of gastric cancer cell MKN1 with an IC50 value of 4.6 μM.

Chromosome-Level Genome Sequence of Leishmania (Leishmania) tropica Strain CDC216-162, Isolated from an Afghanistan Clinical Case.

Project description:PacBio and Illumina MiSeq platforms were used for genomic sequencing of a Leishmania (Leishmania)tropica strain isolated from a patient infected in Pakistan. PacBio assemblies were generated using Flye v2.4 and polished with MiSeq data. The results represent a considerable improvement of the currently available genome sequences in the GenBank database.

Chromosome assembled and annotated genome sequence of Aspergillus flavus NRRL 3357.

Project description:Aspergillus flavus is an opportunistic pathogen of crops, including peanuts and maize, and is the second leading cause of aspergillosis in immunocompromised patients. A. flavus is also a major producer of the mycotoxin, aflatoxin, a potent carcinogen, which results in significant crop losses annually. The A. flavus isolate NRRL 3357 was originally isolated from peanut and has been used as a model organism for understanding the regulation and production of secondary metabolites, such as aflatoxin. A draft genome of NRRL 3357 was previously constructed, enabling the development of molecular tools and for understanding population biology of this particular species. Here, we describe an updated, near complete, telomere-to-telomere assembly and re-annotation of the eight chromosomes of A. flavus NRRL 3357 genome, accomplished via long-read PacBio and Oxford Nanopore technologies combined with Illumina short-read sequencing. A total of 13,715 protein-coding genes were predicted. Using RNA-seq data, a significant improvement was achieved in predicted 5' and 3' untranslated regions, which were incorporated into the new gene models.
